Identify the specific healthcare organization or unit
Hospital management is a specific unit of health care. Healthcare is a fundamental necessity for all humanity in the current world and the demand for better healthcare has risen due to two factors. These are the increased population and increased outbreak of diseases. This is where hospital management comes in to ensure the best hospital services. To ensure the best healthcare organizations need good strategic management. Strategic planning is the periodic process of enabling an organization to accomplish its mission and vision through strategic thinking. In looking at it health-wise, the healthcare organization has to come up with schemes that boost the institution to its mission and vision. An example is how the Ohio Mental Department of Health and Addiction Services has implemented a way to conduct activities concerning strategic management in strategic change(Bukach.etal,2017). They use an inner circle of people and outer circle of people who implement change in the organization. This has been a contributor to their success in how they present their services to patients because of the well-coordinated system of strategic management.
Compare and contrast the roles that strategic thinking, strategic planning, and strategic momentum play in the strategic management process
Strategic management is defined as the management of an organization’s resources to achieve its goals and objectives (Tanwai,2016). Strategic management involves setting objectives, analyzing the competitive environment, analyzing the internal organization, evaluating strategies, and ensuring that management rolls out the strategies across the organization. It is a body that contains three main organs; strategic thinking, strategic planning, and strategic momentum each with a crucial role in the management of organizations. Strategic thinking is an intellectual orientation consisting of activities perceptive to emerging changes, considering strategic implications, creating transformative responses to awareness, analysis, synthesis, and reflection in an organization's body. About a health organization, the employers and employees should embrace strategic thinking as this builds core unity and team spirit. This eventually and inevitably leads to the production of better if not the best healthcare services. Some of the roles of strategic thinking in an organization are to question current assumptions and this will ensure minimizing faults in management and losses. To build an understanding of systems, envision possible futures of the organization through setting up of goals to achieve and generate new ideas for the organization's profitability. Strategic planning is the periodic process of enabling an organization to accomplish its mission and vision through strategic thinking. In looking at it health-wise, the healthcare organization has to come up with schemes that boost the institution to its mission and vision .The third organ which is strategic momentum concerns the day-to-day activities of managing the strategy toward achieving the goals of the organization. Its roles are to address the management of the actual work to accomplish laid-out objectives, shape the style and culture of the organization, evaluate strategy performance, and control strategy implementation by making necessary adjustments. All these three organs are inter-connected and if well-polished produce the best strategic management.
Compare and contrast the analytical approach of strategic management with the emergent approach
An analytical approach relies on a logical sequence of steps or processes to develop a pre-determined logical plan and carry it out without change (Tanwai,2016). On the other hand, an emergent approach relies on intuitive thinking, leadership, and learning with the understanding that because of external change, strategic plans evolve as the strategy unfolds and the organization learns what works and what does not. The roles of strategic planning to an organization are to establish organizational focus, facilitate consistent decision-making, and provide a sequential step-by-step process for creating a strategy that results in a good strategic plan. These are achieved differently through either analytical or emergent approaches.
Identify four roles marketing can play in the strategic management process
- Establishing communication objects whereby the organization puts the customer at the fore-front and establishes a good communication network with him or her.
- Identifying the target audience to have proper awareness.
- Analyzing market supposition and creates a timeline for the organization to work with.
- Defining support points, develops selling prepositions, and develops solutions.
