Introduction

Christian worldview refers to the assumptions, behaviors, values, and beliefs held by Christians and guide their perceptions about who they are, what the world is like, and the reasons behind our presence on the earth. Christians can come up with their vision through the use of traditional documents such as the Lord's prayer, the Apostles' Creed, and the Ten Commandments to discern the Christian worldview. It is essential for Christians to have a worldview as this does not only answer intellectual questions but also helps one to follow biblical principles in personal and practical spheres of life thus brings Christians to the presence of God. Also, it affirms that God is the sovereign and almighty Lord and contends that God is purposeful and created in freedom. In this essay, I will be discussing and evaluating four essential elements of the Christian worldview which include God, humanity, Jesus, and restoration.

God

The bible does not have a formal definition of God, but His attributes is displayed on almost every page. God is a spirit which means that God is a nonmaterial personal being, self-determining, and self-conscious. He is therefore not limited to the body, boundaries, force or shape but is indiscernible and immeasurable in the eyes of those who limit God to these physical things (Douglas & Tenney, 2011). He is universally present thus flows exceedingly with mercy, love, power, and wisdom. This means that if one of the Trinity is everywhere, the other two are also there (John 10:30, New International Version).

God is as righteous and holy being (Ashbaucher, 2011). God reveals himself as a holy God who is perfect in every detail. God does not endure sinful living as He is a perfect and good God. This is the reason why he is the spring of all goodness hence there is no other good apart from him. The Bible says that no one is good except God himself (Mark 10:18, New International Version). Goodness is intrinsic to God hence all He does is necessarily good. God declares that his creations are good, but the sin, evil, disruption, and disorder now prevail in the world because of the rebellion of morals created by God (Kim, 2013).

Humanity

Human nature refers to the set of notions, beliefs, and attitudes that give answers to questions such as who is a person, how do individuals live in their physical and social environment as well as the question on the kind of goals and values individuals should have in their lives (Horodecka, 2014). God had a purpose for creating humanity. God created humans in his likeness, but Adam and Eve fell into sin rending all humans sinners. Despite this, humans may flourish if they see God through themselves. Human was destined to have dominance over the fish in the sea, cows on earth, fowl in the air as well as anything that creep on the earth (Genesis 1:28, New International Version). Human purpose is further explained by the blessings given to Adam and Eve. God commanded them to replenish the earth, multiply, be fruitful, and subdue the earth (Genesis 1:26, New International Version). God decreed humanity to reproduce and rule over the land.

The root cause of human problems was when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden (Kim, 2013). They rebelled against God, missed the purpose for their lives, and adversely affected the entire human race. God became angered because of their actions and thus has been the root cause of the plight of humanity ever since. God created a perfect man who was upright physically, morally and was equipped spiritually with the capability to be a responsible person before God the creator. Sin fell upon the world because of Adam and Eve's transgressions which were occasioned by Satan in the form of a serpent by eating the fruit of knowledge. This showed that man was not willing to be a subject to the commands of God thus were doomed to death (Genesis 3:19, New International Version). Eve was punished through childbirth and Adam could rule over her.

Jesus

According to the Bible and Christian worldview, Jesus depicts himself fully as God and human whose true personality is the son of God. He was made by God in his likeness and is the second person in Trinity created to spread the gospel of God to the world. Jesus in return did so many things for the people such as healing, driving away evil spirits, preaching the gospel, and died on the cross to save the world. He sacrificed himself for our sins through death and resurrection so that human could receive redemption. He came to serve the people and give his life as a ransom for many (Mathew 20:28, New International Version). The work and identity of Jesus are significant in the Christian worldview because he allowed sinners to redeem their unholy deeds because he died on the cross as a way of reclaiming the humans from sins so that they may join the kingdom of God. Despite humanity being created as immortal, sinners may not be accepted into the kingdom unless they are redeemed of the blood of Jesus Christ.

Restoration

The bible gives sin as the most significant human problem which is a form of disobedience and wrongdoing that brings the separation between God and human beings. This separation makes it hard for humans to be in the holy presence of the Lord or have a relationship (Kim, 2013). The solution to this, according to the Christian worldview, is forgiveness. When God forgives a sinner, sins are washed away. Through forgiveness, Christians achieve salvation are saved through grace and faith (Ephesians 2:8-9, New International Version). The bible considers this a gift from God the father and not from any human being. Through salvation, the human kind has been delivered from sin which is a gift gotten free from God. Kim (2017) notes that Christians should consider that having faith and being faithful in Jesus Christ is the beginning of transformation. Jesus' ministry restores the relationship with God, broken marriages, and health.

Analysis

The benefits of Christian worldview are numerous. Through the Christian worldview, we have a firm foundation in God, and we realize the love and care that He accords us as his believers. Furthermore, we believe that God has a plan or purpose for those who trust and worship Him. One thing that could be confusing is the belief that there is heaven and how one gets there. I believe that getting to either hell or heaven is based on ideas that a person hold and not due to actions (Mickaharic, 2011). If one believes in Christ Jesus, such an individual gains acceptance into heaven but there is no entry if one refuses Christ. Also, how could Jesus be a person and divine at the same time? He came to earth to preach the gospel as a person but is a divine being. A person's behavior and thinking are influenced by Christian worldview because enables one to believe and have faith in Jesus Christ. This eventually plays a significant role in the behavior and thinking among Christians.

Reflection

I am a born-again Christian who believes in God and attests that God created us in his likeness. I believe that God saved the world from sin through his son Jesus Christ who died on the cross to wash our transgressions away. My life has been changed through the convictions discussed above because I live a holy life through Jesus Christ. I have decided to cling to my Christian worldview, and I proclaim that Jesus is the son of God. I am unashamed that Jesus is Lord who resurrected from the dead. Despite the original sin committed by Adam and Eve, I believe that I have been washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Through this, I believe that I have been redeemed and restored.

Conclusion

The Christian worldview is the behavior, values, and beliefs held by Christians and guide their perceptions of the world and reasons for their presence on earth. God, Jesus Christ, humanity, and restoration are the essentials of Christian worldview. God is an omnipresent and holy being. Jesus is the son of God who died on the cross to save the sinners in the world. God created humanity and placed them in the garden, but they were chased when they did not follow the commands of God. Because of their actions, Jesus came and died on the cross to save them from their sins. Despite the sins, God has a purpose for everyone because He cares and loves humanity. He sent his son to die for our sins, forgive, and redeem the world.
