Introduction
Over the years many things have changed about office etiquette and office space. Most entrepreneurs are opting for a more cost-effective way of cutting down on expenses. Therefore, traditional office space is no longer very popular. With many businesses putting up in spare bedrooms, garages and even open-offices there is more need to observe proper etiquette at work. Amy and ben, for example, have a lot to work and both disagree on a lot of issues on procedure and etiquette
Ben is an ambitious young USC graduate. He is intent on working hard since he works late hours trying to beat deadlines. Ben is, however, discontent with working late hours. He should, however, continue working hard and sacrifice his time since it's the only way he will get the attention of his seniors. Sometimes working late hours to achieve objectives is the only way to beat deadlines. Ben is also frustrated about doing mundane jobs after ten months of service at the company. He has to be humble and work his way up the ladder. His superior having worked up the ladder from being a copywriter knows how it feels to be in Ben's shoes. Amy, Ben's boss has to be more appreciative of Ben's efforts. If she is more appreciative of Ben's efforts Ben will feel implored to continue giving his best efforts. Ben should also be compensated for the extra office hours he puts in. Amy should ensure all her juniors are well compensated for extra shifts.
Ben being as ambitious as he feels he has a few ideas that could help boost sales of the film. The protocol is however important and he should never pitch his idea to this seniors boss. Ben should have followed the chain of command and handed in a well-detailed report of his idea to his boss who would then push his idea to her seniors. Amy, on the other hand, should give her juniors the platform to raise their ideas and issues. Doing so will improve participation in the office and will ensure they are all working on the same page. Amy should not downplay her junior's ideas since they may be good ideas like Ben's.
Ben also continually hand in work late. It is quite unbecoming for anyone to hand in work late. Ben should be more upfront on the progress of his work so that his superiors can give him a proper timeline to finish his work. Work is also substandard and is poorly done. Ben should do his best in these jobs since it is also the only way to get the promotion. Amy commends Ben for poorly done work. Amy should inform Ben whenever his work is substandard and have him make the appropriate changes.
Both Ben and Amy should respect each other's need to work. Amy as Ben's senior should also guide him. She should publicly praise him then criticize and make corrections privately. Good communication between them will also improve their relationship at work
