Introduction
Niger is the main country of interest following the fight against terrorism, which is going on in the Sahel region. The country is thought to have experienced over 46% of cases related to violent activities over the area, displacing many thousands of people with over 5000 succumbing to death (Waddington, 2016). The worst of it is that the country is involved in the internal civil disputes over the colonial border issues; hence, some of the regions do acknowledge Nigeria as a genuine state. There is, therefore, a great need for the establishment of stability and peace in the country and the surrounding areas.
Political and Military Objectives of Niger With USAFRICOM
The main objective of the niger with USAFRICOM is to strengthen border security. Niger and Mali have been in disputes for an extended period over border issues (Haywood, 2017). Hence through an increase in border security, Niger will be able to protect its people who have been victims of violence and armed disputes with other neighboring countries and by widening the prevention of terrorists around the region.
Military reinforcement in the activities with the help of the united states troops who are at the moment establishing a large military base in Niger to curb terrorist activities in the area (Waddington, 2016). However, the United States' role in association with niger armed forces and AFRICOM remains to be advisory, providing skills in training, intelligence, and logistics, which will enhance the military activities in Niger to wipe out conflicts and terrorist groups.
They are strengthening the current organizations by trying to eliminate corruption and mistrust that jas been in existence in Niger since the colonial period. Therefore institutional strength and collaboration are very crucial in fighting extremists.
Interplay Between Parties
The Sahel leaders have united in the aim of encountering threats that have been imposed by the armed terrorists towards violence. The member states in the Sahel region, leaders from Mali, Burkina Faso, chad, mali, Senegal, and Niger, have come together to form Sahel G5 joint military with the help of the US troops and the French forces in boosting intelligence and help curb terrorism in the region.
Balance of Power
The addressing of the ethnic groups in the Sahel region in the economic uncertainties through the engagement of the cross-border trade in promoting peace in the area between the Toubou and Tuaregs from mali who are controlling trade in the area.
Priorities and Allocation of Resources Towards Niger Vs. US
The member countries in the Sahel region are much interested in the collaborations and links that will assist the area in solving address issues of insecurity, climate change, and drought that have destroyed the defenseless area (Waddington, 2016). Thus most countries in the Sahel are in ECOWAS economic cooperation. Thus Niger joined the ECOWAS because of the 2008 and 2012 calamity to fight hunger through in implementation of the policies in agriculture, telecommunications, energy, and natural resources. Furthermore, farmers in the Sahel region have been encouraged in the reclamation of the area through planting of trees and shrubs.
Relative Importance of the Military and Relationship of Military to Other Instruments of Power in Niger
In serving citizens through how the national security decisions are made towards security issues and business safety. Strengthening of security in the area to boost peace and which will encourage economic growth in the area.
Costs Strategic Participants Willing To Pay
The Sahel members need to be at the forefront of denouncing terrorism and other evils, which will make the countries face threats of being sanctioned. Therefore for better development and improved economy, there is a need for the call of justice and fairness in their governmental systems to realize many great benefits from stakeholders.
