Psychological-Sociological Realism

Blanche got to be dismissed from her teaching job due to having sex with one of her English students and chased out of her town back in Mississippi. In another scene, she asks and gets a kiss from a boy who was collecting for newspapers. This is all tied into her love for the boy who goes ahead and kills himself due to the love he had for her at the time she was at the age of sixteen. It is from these actions that she cannot help but only have a sympathetic response. It from her that one can see themselves in her in how many have ugly past, emotional, and sexual needs due to the weaknesses that the humans are created with. She uses sex to escape her loneliness just the same way that most men and women in today's society usually do.

Stella, on the other hand, has an unreal existence where she pretends to be living in a happy home. She is also in love with Stanley, who, on the other end, is full of mistakes. Moreover, Stella is emotionally and financially dependent on Stanley. From the story of the two, one cannot be sure whether Stanley is emotionally reliant on Stella. Therefore, one cannot tell whether she will go back to being with Stanley after the sexual aggression incident that took place against Blanche. This can be reflected in the psychology mood, and emotions that are usually reflections and refractions that are typically in the heart of the characters.

In The Picnic Film, psychological -sociological realism has been used on the part where Hal plays the role of an intruder who comes into someone's life when they least expect it and disrupts everything and even those around them. This technique has also been used in showing how Madge's mother wants her to use her beauty as a bait to be married by the richest boy in their town. She understands no importance of love. She persuades her to get married to a rich person to get out of poverty and live a comfortable life of riches. This can be related to the feature of Psychological - Sociological realism of social evilness. Many in modern society also usually tend to look for a partner that is financially well-off to take advantage of pulling them out of poverty.

Documentary Realism

Documentary realism is a type of style that is usually used in the film industry where producers base their arguments on claims of truth, authenticity, and actuality. It is from this style that uses unscripted dialogue, unstaged actions, and real people, unlike other films that usually use actors whose role is to play fictitious parts (Renov 25). Additionally, this kind of style also includes naturally occurring events, behaviors, and emotions. In this kind of style, the narration may be scripted but not the events themselves.

Looking into the Anatomy of a murder, it is courtroom film drama involving handling sexual passions and rape crimes. It realistically reflects on adult matters. It is from the inter-title prologue that gives insights into what was being presented on the case. Moreover, the title and the pictures in the beginning of the film provide a picture of what the film is about, thus giving the audience a taste of what to expect shows that documentary realism was used in making this film. By using an actual courtroom language and style of cross and examination, a visual trope that ensures performance in a rhythm that adds to reality is also an indication of the documentary realism technique having been used in the film. Also, looking to how the film is being more real in the fact that they have used an actual judge of the McCarthy Case Story also reflects on corruption where the attorney is willing to assist his client in winning even if he is guilty to advance his credential as a lawyer. Additionally, the director having to leave it to the audiences to judge a case on the rape and revenge reflects the use of documentary realism. This technique has also been used to show corruption in law, where verdicts depend on the performance of the opposing lawyers rather than the objective truth.

From Here to Eternity, the film has been made to reflect the behind the scenes of the life that a soldier usually has. This is from their relation to their duties as soldiers and also to their social life. It is set in a way that it reflects the time that World War II took place. This film demonstrated how the effect of the Cold war, WWII, Red scare, and the evolution in technology, which affected Big business and small businesses alike, all have a cause and effect in everyone's lives. The location of the film in Hawaii was where the Pearl Harbor attack took place. This was put into action by having the film reflect on the real events that took place at the place.

Moreover, the use of underclothes, shorts, bathing suits, and towel wraps costumes at the beach is a way of documentary realism of the real costumes that people at the beach wear. Also, the technique has been used to reflect on the corruption and racism that exists in the military. This can be seen in the scene where Montgomery is harassed to fight in their in-house boxing tournament. Sinatra is also called a racism name due to her Italian descent. Also, in the beginning, the way Montgomery walks towards the camera vertically while soldiers were marching horizontal, along with the titles coming in decentering, represent the rebel against conformity in the film by the three soldiers.

The documentary realism technique has been used in this film to show the life that soldiers have and what they go through in such harsh times of war. The film also gives insights on the ties that soldiers have by being loyal to their duties and nation. This film is documented also reflects on the corruption and impurities that are usually experienced in the military. This can be seen when Prewitts's superiors give him unfair treatment to embrace his boxing roots.

Noir

Noir is an innovative film making technique that can be considered a black movie. This technique is used to show specific events that can be taken as main scenes that complete a part of a story that a play in a film is about (Silver 187). Mostly these scenes are events that may have happened in the past, criminal activities, and stages that elaborate further on why a character behaves in a certain way.

Body Snatchers film is a film that is made in a way that portrays horror but in science fiction with a heart of noir. Body snatchers film has a perceptibly noir feel. This can be seen in how the film has throwbacks with B-picture ready names such as sudden danger and Bait. Additionally, it is from the screenplay in body snatches that show noir origins. Noir innovative style can also be derived from sources such as greenhouse walls and staircase railings.

Moreover, claustrophobic framing is another noir element that gives an excellent example in the scene where the main characters in the film go to hide in the mines when the entire town was chasing them. The flashbacks also portray noir technique in the narrative structure. It is in this film that noir elements are established by the existence of uselessness of individual actions.

Noir in the Body Snatchers can also be reflected in the part where the blacks were flocking into Los Angeles from the south. It is in Los Angeles that they occupied frame houses that were graced by lawns and flowering shrubs. Moreover, they had shinny 1956 cars that were usually parked in the driveway. Therefore, by looking at this setting, it is correct to say that the film had an innovative noir style in the film making.

In the film Where the Sidewalk Ends, the unpredictable nature of fate is one of the indicators of film noir. This is portrayed by the fact that there are many occurrences of events that the characters have no control. The story revolves around Dixon's killing Paine, who is a murder suspect accidentally. By doing this, Dixon finds himself in a problematic situation where he is even faced with the issue of being punished for Paine's disappearance. This can be seen as a type of irony that is only portrayed in a noir film. Evidence of guilt is another element that shows the proof of having a noir period in the movie. This can be seen in how Andrews, who was a police detective, had a character that instilled tension to the viewers and not to the other roles in the films.
