Introduction
The Underground Railroad was a system formed by both white and black people (African American) in the United States of America to help or take care of the slave escapees who came from the south. This movement operated from the end of the 18th century and ran up to the beginning of civil war. Most of the slaves that got assistance from the Underground Railroad had come from Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky having escaped and crossed the border.
The market revolution
This revolution took place In the United States of America from the year 1793 to 1909. During this period there were extreme changes in the physical work which emanated from the south heading to the north and eventually to the whole world. The economy changed very fast due to advancement in communication, trade, and communication. Traditional ways of operating trade got outdated (Keith Pp35-38).
The economy of the north versus the south
Before the market revolution, there was physical labor appliance and use of slaves to do the physical work. Mostly the slave's workers on farms and plantation under very severe and tight condition.in the south, there was cotton plantation but it wasn't profit oriented. During the market revolution, this was commercialized and the north reverberated textile which led to massive development. This led to more paid labor due to increased large scale home product manufacturing. Though in the south slavery got bigger due to the spread of cotton plantation.
The invention of the cotton gin led to homemade manufactured products which stopped the importation of related products and led to the increment of paid labor due to large scale production. The steam power led to the creation of factories and industries.it also led to creations of means of transport like steamboats and trains. Waterways, roads, and railways fastened the transportation of raw materials and manufactured goods over long distances making it easy to trade goods that led to massive development the whole country (Wright Pp 161-178).
Slave and wage labor
The rise of textile factories in the north led to a demand for more cotton which led to more enslavement. This was working under a more powerful person under the harsh condition as well as being overworked and gaining nothing in terms of wages from the work done. The industries also led to the demand for more manpower which led to the employment of more free workers. Free workers were employed under certain terms and paid an agreed sum according to their understanding.
Antebellum reform movements
Correction movements were formed in retaliation to community liverish. There were several correction or reform movement like women's rights and abolitionism
Abolitionism and women's rights
Arguments made by male and female activists
The women rights movement was a child of abolition movement so they had some facts in common. The men supported the education of women so that to write-up women maltreatment. Education would empower women and make them able to reason and fight for their rights. The movements claimed that women and men were created as God's equivalent upright lifeblood and should have the same chances as men. Women and men should be given equal rights and chances in life as they have the ability to perform most duties that men do and the vice versa is also true.
Both the abolition and women rights reform movement supported the women rights and defended the women. The women rights movement originate from the abolition movement so they had the wellbeing of human interest so they supported each other in most ways.in the 1830s women wanted the end of slavery and somewhere there happened to be a convention and two abolitionists were told not to sit because of their nature (Lerner 2009).
The role of American Revolutionary principles (liberty, freedom, and equality) was to seek the end of slavery fight for equality and abolish women rights. Sympathetic men who were mostly white supported education of women in order to stop their maltreatment and make them stronger. These principles argued that everybody was equal as Gods creation and everybody should have equal rights.
