Introduction
Globally, Human Health is one of the critical aspects of life that require attention from all the stakeholders; such as governments, health organizations, and human beings. Human beings can only maintain their functional health status by ensuring effective and efficient dietary intake. Therefore to maintain and improve your functional health status, you need to ensure proper food intakes. Most people, especially the elderly population, the experience was deteriorating health and living conditions due to lack of adequate support that can enable them to acquire appropriate food intake and health attention. However, with the introduction of MyPlate.gov by the various health organizations and government agencies, most people's health and living conditions have greatly improved. MyPlate.gov has helped many people in keeping the track as well as informing you if you have reached your intended goal for each type of food consumption. For instance, it helps an individual to identify the total amount of calories one should do it daily. This super tracking technology is expertly designed to meet every person's nutritional need as well as personal goals of calories consumption. Additionally, the technology also aids individuals in planning their meals every week.
Since my diet is not well balanced as per the health requirements, and I need to add healthier choice of all the food types into my daily diet, MyPlate.gov is considered to be my best place to help me in maintaining and improving my health and living status. The technology can effectively assist me in planning my weekly meal because this aspect is my significant weakness. Overall, MyPlate.gov can efficiently help me in making healthier selections for both myself and my entire family members. To begin with, Carbohydrates are my massive limitation since I love sugary foodstuffs such as candies, chips, juices as well as loaves of bread. Surprisingly, each one of the carbohydrate food has a high amount of sugar content in them. Consequently, the excess amount of sugar content in the bloodstream may lead to type 2diabetes which can lead to various challenges of blood circulation as well as nerve damage in all parts of the human body. Additionally, low blood pressure and injuries of the nerve can severely cause possible loss of blood flow in the kidney, which can damage them leading to the increased infections such as loss of limbs due to amputation as well as gangrene processes.
However, to avoid excess sugar content in the blood other complications related to it, I need to reach a very healthy body weight of 120 pounds. To successfully achieve this plan, I need to ensure intake of healthy meals that have got moderate calories, low amount of fats and high in vegetables and another diet such as fruits, chicken, fish, and whole grains. In addition to that, I need to limit the excess intake of alcohol (Lowden et al., 2010). I should also regulate drinking juices and replace them with water which will enhance my metabolic processes in the body. Thus, with the help of MyPlate.gov, I shall have reduced health problems related to high blood pressure. Secondly, I have a massive weakness for taking foods with a high amount of cholesterol and fats such as French fries. These types of food have put me into high chances of suffering from complications related to heart like hypertension, stroke, as well as heart failure since I am obese, making me physically inactive. Hence, I can prevent these heart diseases by focusing on foods with low cholesterol and fat content like whole grains and beans. This health proposal will help me greatly in becoming physically active through thorough exercise daily.
Additionally, my diet is lowly concentrated in foodstuffs such as Vitamin, as well as Potassium, while it is maximum in Sodium. Always, a menu with the low content of Vitamin C and Potassium may cause several health complications such as anemia, headache, mental problem, and fatigue. Therefore, I need to ensure the intake of the high amount of Vitamin C and Potassium. This aspect will help me in ensuring that my health and living conditions get upgraded.
Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) Graph
The (DRI) includes two sets of values that dish up as ends for nutrient intake-Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) as well as Adequate Intakes (AI). Correctly, RDA reflects on the average nutrient content regarded as adequate in meeting the requirements of several healthy individuals. Should there be lack of sufficient evidence to identify an RDA, an AI sets. AI is considered to more tentative than the RDA. However, both are used to ensure active nutrient intakes. Additionally, DRI consists of several values called Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (UL), which stands for the utmost amount of a nutrient that is regarded as safe for several healthy individuals to utilize regularly.
How Culture Affects Our Nutrition and Food Intakes
Both food and culture are critical aspects of life that go together. Food has both nutrients and metabolism contents which are essential for the growth as well as act as a source of energy to our body, respectively. Nevertheless, despite nutritional values of food, food we consume also represent our culture, as is considered as one of the significant components of culture. Globally, all types of food we eat differ according to different cultures and regional disparities. This aspect of diversity changed gradually to go with society and the available resources. Hence, to understand how culture affects food selection (Kushi et al., 2012). Firstly, all the essential requirements of making food as well as activities like capture, consumption, preparation, and even cultivation regarded as the vital section of the cultural events. For instance, in the Asian Continent, Chinese and other cultures respect and follow Buddhism, which prohibits them from taking a large amount of food at a time. Thus, this disparity aspect is brought about by various factors such as climatic change, geography, the pursuit for pleasure, and desire to acquire good health. In conclusion, food always represents the class and culture of people in all parts of the world. Hence, food is an essential component of someone's health and living conditions.
