Introduction
Macau food festival is an event which happens every year, and it always takes place at Rotunda, which is a place opposite the Macau Tower. The event attracts many visitors and residents who are interested in European, Chinese, local and Asian delicacies. The exhibition is accompanied by games, beer intake and live entertainments competitions. Therefore the food festive is always relaxing, has a welcoming atmosphere and presents an intimate atmosphere that is usually firm. Hence, the event attracts many tourists from all parts of the world, and this increases the risks which can be associated with the development.
Notably, even if many people enjoy the food and the accommodation presented in the festive, there are various risks which are associated with the event. These risks are related to pollution of the environment, inappropriate foods offered and immoral behavior due to the large population from diverse backgrounds (Couto et al., 2016).
Risks of Macau Food Festival
Macau food festival is associated with various risks. First, the event has a large number of people, and this increases the risk of food poisoning. Food poisoning results as a result of the intake of contaminated foods. Food contamination during the festivals occurs when food is not properly stored, handled or prepared. Moreover, some food varieties have a high risk of food poisoning than others while at the same time some people are at a higher risk of experiencing food poisoning than others (Weidner, 2010). Some foods presented at the festival have a higher risk of causing food than others. Also, some people are at a higher risk of experiencing food poisoning than others. But anyone who takes foods that are contaminated at the festival period experiences cases of food poisoning.
Secondly, the Macau festive season was affected by the presence of large garbage's that results in the availability of a lot of recycling bins. It has been presented that a large number of wastes are produced during the festival (Deng, 2015). This is due to the number of things which those who attend the festive carry and those which they utilize while there. Thus a large number of recycling bins are provided to collect a large number of wastes. However, most of those who use recover bins do not dispose of the wastes according to the bins that are provided (Weiren, 2015). In this case, the containers fail to be classified appropriately, and scraps end up being disposed of in any recycle bin. As a result, the residents and environmentalists are raising opposition against a large number of residues that are being produced. Thirdly, another risk factor is the high overflow of people and lack of social order (Mesquita, 2011). The large population is associated with a high workload that results in high levels of stress to those who are involved in serving the attendant. Furthermore, various forms of crimes including drug-related and prostitution are reported during the food festivals in Macau (Couto et al., 2016). These immoral behaviors are due to the visitors' influx in the region.
Solving Macau Food Festival Risk
The possible risks that are experienced at Macau food festivals can be solved as follows. First, to avoid food poisoning, it is essential to ensure that those who will be involved in issuing of food are provided with food licenses that are valid. Furthermore, those stalls that would be included in the supply of alcohol and drinks should also be provided with permission that is valid. Secondly, the issue of large waste products should be solved by having enough dustbins and recycle bins which are well labeled (Weiren, 2015). This would avoid the inappropriate mixing of recyclable and non-recyclable wastes. Moreover, the locals and the tourists need to be sensitized on the need for proper waste disposal.
Most importantly, all the necessary measures that could ensure that improper disposal of wastes is regulated should be implemented. Thirdly, the large population of individuals should be controlled by limiting the number of places where gatherings can be held. Furthermore, safety and order should be maintained within the areas where the large population is occupying (Couto et al., 2016). Overall, the safest routes of traveling to and from the festival area should be communicated through text messages, television, mobile applications, and radio to ensure the safety of visitors and locals are enhanced (Mesquita, 2011).Conclusion
In conclusion, the food festival that takes place in Macau is associated with a large number of risks which include food poisoning, high population overflow, and significant waste production. These risks can be solved through issues of food licenses to food producers, proper labeling of dustbins and regulation of the large population. Thus, the risks associated with the festive season can be solved if appropriate measures are employed resulting in better festivals.
