Introduction
Lodzinski's murder trial is one of the critical cases in history. This is after Arizona man informed a judge that former cellmate had confessed to killing a boy in 1991. According to the witness, Lodzinski committed the crime after the young male cry when the man tried to attack him. However, Lodzinski argued that the young boy was kidnapped during the event. Later on, the remains of the son were found several miles from a region where Lodzinski was earlier living. Around the remains, there were other materials, such as a blanket and a balloon. After a thorough investigation, it was identified that the materials belong to Lodzinski (Weare, 2017). Despite Lodzinski claiming that the young boy was kidnapped after she went for a drink, the boy's friends who had attended the event did not see him. Other witnesses claimed that Lodzinski had been suffering as she tried caring for the boy, and hence, the solution for the ongoing issue was to live without the boy.
Socially, mothers are known for their caring hearts and love for their children. However, based on the case, Lodzinski had killed her son. According to the first witnesses, the two other sons, their mother, had another son who had died. Consciously, the mother revealed to the sons that their old brother had died. Although she does not illustrate the key cause of death, she does not base her argument on the idea that he had been kidnapped by unknown individuals (Weare, 2017). Additionally, some of the materials that were found together with the body remain belonged to the mothers.
Due to the mother role, living the blanket was the only thing she could do after committing the crime. Several members of the family and friends who had gone to babysit identified the blanket. Additionally, during the incident period, Lodzinski was a struggling young mother who was critically struggling to ensure all the end meet. The young boy was an extra burden on her life (Weare, 2017). Hence, she wanted a solution to curb the existing issues.
Furthermore, Lodzinski had a close connection with her sister, but she never opened up about the boy. Nevertheless, Lodzinski demonstrated several incidences where she appears conscious of guilty for the act she committed. Therefore, Lodzinski kept asking her sister about the boy several times for a long period. The consciousness of guilty acted as a driving force that made her keep referring to the boy.
Based on the case, the perpetrator deserved to receive the jail term, as it was clearly outlined that she had killed his son. Usually, every person is entitled to the right to life, and someone should not kill a person based on prevailing life conditions (Weare, 2017). In this case, Lodzinski killed her son because she wanted freedom and a room to overcome the dominating problems.
As a way of overcoming the issue, the perpetrator would have looked for alternative ways to solve the issue instead of making the decision to kill her son (Weare, 2017). Additionally, the woman would forever remain guilty of her action, and hence, her conscience would always affect her future life. However, through imprisonment, the woman would suffer from her past action.
The issue of children being murdered by mother has been a critical aspect of running in the world for many years. Each year, there are several cases where a mother is associated with killing a child. According to research, about 57 percent of filicide is associated with the mother. According to research, about 42 percent of perpetrators who are associated with maternal filicides are suffering from mental problems (Weare, 2017). In which, mood and personality disorders are key mental illnesses that increase the rate at which mothers kill children.
Family conflict was another critical issue that arose that subject a mother to murder their children (Weare, 2017). Usually, when a family breakup occurs, most of the families find it challenging to cope with the condition, and thus, some tend to sacrifice their children, which gives them a new chapter of life (Weare, 2017). When family violence occurs, children are felt at the center, and hence, some parent kills due to their anger. Finally, some mother kills their children as a way of overcoming the prevailing issues such as lack of basic needs. The condition is highly experienced, especially if a mother gets children in her teenage life.
