Introduction

Choices impact our lives more than the surroundings this is in reference to the three sources including the road not taken. The poem "The Road Not Taken" starts with a dilemma; The author is undecided in which road to take. He wishes he could travel both ways at the same time and as one traveler. This cannot happen, and he must choose one way which pleases him. After looking closely to one road, he chose to take the other road Frost (2016). In this decision, he described the road just as fair, grassy and wanted to wear. This reason explains to us that a choice is more important as it is what we want. After taking the path the author noted that the road is less traveled, and doesn't have much grass on it, meaning that he made the right decision. After experiencing the road, he says that "oh, I kept the first for another". The phrase means that there's need for change in decisions we make.

No matter the circumstances choices carry us to the grave, they make us who we really are and can hurt others. The book Passing by Langston Hughes explains a choice made by the author which impacts his life and make him not to be together with his family. His mother and siblings are black while his father is white Hughes (2015). The society they live in is racist and he makes a choice of not interacting with his family since they are black. He writes to his mother explaining how he feels like a dog passing her in the street without talking to her. This explains that also the surroundings impact our lives but less than choices since he chose to go the society way rather than his feelings and ways.

It's evident also in the above book that environment impacts our lives. The author Hughes doesn't want to interact with his family because they are blacks. He explains the blacks are regarded as dirty with diseases on them. This shows that the environment limits him to be part of the family because he is white and mother and siblings are black. This perspective explains that the surroundings impact our lives.

The choices we make can be influenced by peers or family, but the individual self makes the choice himself. The book Summer Odyssey by Rameck shows how they competed in class and got wonderful grades Rameck (2011). They chose to pass by competition, but one had to make a choice of competing or not.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we have discussed that choices are more important in impacting our lives because we at the individual level knows what's best for us. When we make our own choices, we feel good about ourselves and give room for changing the decision made. But when we let surroundings impact our lives, we will live blaming the society making us hopeless.
