Introduction

The book entitled "blacks in Diaspora" by Jack M. Bloom narrates the life history of the black people in the land of the white people. According to Jack, black were becoming disillusioned with the policy of supporting white liberals. By the end of the decade, black were disabused of their illusions about white liberals and the federal government in Durham, blacks forced a proposed industrial education center through election which they lost but strengthen their political movement. They formed a second wave movement which as accompanied by lot of protests among black students through their organization called Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). The boldness of the student's organization transformed both racial politics in America and themselves as well. The students were so optimistic that they could not be intimidated and threatened by the white.

The student organization appointed a new chairman by the name Charles Mc Dew who promised that the student movement would continue until every vestige of racial segregation and discrimination are erased from the face of the earth. The SNCC later started challenging their leaders, they went as far as booing at Dr. Martin Luther king while was presenting before them. This challenge to authority extended beyond the black community. When Martin Luther King was arrested, Kennedy made an effort until he was released, this effort made Martin to endorsed Kennedy. The demonstration of the blacks together with Kennedy's apparent support for justice created a new black self confidence. Political differences later arose that separated king from the second wave movement but king attempted to bridge the gap by soughing united black pressure to lead the civil rights coalition and he continued his strategic approach to that coalition insisting that the federal government and the Democratic Party were real and legitimate.

The student organization consist of different classes i.e. the lower class, the middle class and the higher class level. The middle and higher class levels worked together as much concern was put on lower class blacks, mobilizing them to change their condition, this was recognized as a significant move. Criticism of king attained their greatest strength following the fiasco in Al-bany. The opponents portrayed the king's movement strategy as a failure. The whites government later arrested many black people which a weakened the movement. Martin Luther king attempted once again to resurrect the coalition and to reassert the validity of his strategy by campaigning for the right to vote in the South. The voting right was then signed into law, king successfully reconstructed the civil-rights coalition once more time and he established the power of his program for nonviolent direct action and demonstrated the ability to defeat the reactionary forces of racism.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Jack emphasizes a lot on unity and nonviolent action of power. The unity of black students made them strong together and they could overcome all kind of intimidations from the whites. Jack also gives weight to a well laid organizations strategic plans like the ones for Dr, Martin Luther King which made him led the second wave movement and he could lead the student's organization well. In addition, Jack also embraces the power of hard work and lack of losing hope, this is seen when the students could be arrested, detained but still they could come together and continue fighting for the right of voters.
