La Vida local is an organic food delivery service that is based in Michigan. This business was started by a woman named Julie after she saw how organic food greatly benefitted her children and herself. She wanted the benefits of the use of these organic foods to reach everyone. She started the business with an investment of less than a thousand dollars, and in less than two years the company was grossing over eighty thousand dollars in profits. Julie did not care about the profits, but her main concern was allowing more people access to organic foods. Of late, she was feeling burnt out, and she started talking to her husband about employing other people to help her. However, she was hesitant as she does not believe that the people that she will employ will be able to handle the business as well as she did.

In her current state, Julie is favoring her managerial and technical role. Julie is afraid that the person that she will employ to her business will not guide the business to greater prosperity as she has. She is trying to maintain the status quo of the business instead of focusing on the heights that it might reach with the new help. This is the main characteristic of managers, maintaining the status quo. Of late she has been feeling burnt out because she has been working for over fourteen hours a day. She is a hard worker and the main reason for the success of her business. This shows that she is a technician as she works hard and gets things done. By taking on these roles, she is experiencing different conflicts. For example, as a manager, she is pushed to maintain the status quo and not to employ anyone as help. At the same time, she wants her business to grow and help more people realize the benefits of having organic food. She is also experiencing a conflict of wanting to get more done and not employing more people to help with the work. The business is stuck on a managerial-verses-entrepreneurial state. Julie wants the business to grow and serve more people. To do this, she has to employ more people to help her distribute the organic food. However, she is afraid that if she employs more people into her business, they might end up ruining her business and making her business fail.

Conclusion

For the business to be efficiently managed, there are several steps that Julie should take. The first one is to employ more people to help her with the business. Julie should get over her fear of other people ruining her business and start focusing on building a good team around her business that can take it to the next level. The next step she would take is to ensure that the people that she brings on to her company are properly vetted. The only way that the people that she brings to her business will make the business fail is if these people are not properly interviewed and vetted. Vetting ensures that only the competent people are employed. The last step is that the new employees establish a rapport with the customers. For any venture to be successful, there is a need for the employees of the business to have a connection with the customers. The customers will keep coming back, and the business' success will soar.
