Albert managed to be released in 1941 but then found himself fighting for the Nazi of German against other nations. He found time to write letters to his family back at home telling them of his life in war. When Albert described his capture ordeal in a letter he sent to his brother Herman who was now in charge of the family, Herman laughed sarcastically mocking his brother that a man in his right senses should stand for one thing and not going around fighting even in the army of the enemies. Albert was used to mocking his brother but this time as he made fun of him in his absentia had a feeling that not everything was okay. He brushed off the feeling when he was convinced by their elder sister who was now married that that was how war goes. It involves fighting for survival and does not matter who you fight for because they never recognize them anyway. She also added that in the battlefield soldiers die like flies and no one gives them a decent burial, and so that is why to them survival is paramount regardless of if you fight for the enemy. All their life, Jack and his sibling had always been so close to each other helping one another on important matters, and the departure of their elder brother had made them worried but drawn them closer.

Three years later, Herman was captured again by the Soviet armies and made prisoner. He never contacted his family for two years which was the time he spent in prison. After prison, he was forced to fight again in the Soviet army. He was able to communicate to his family now while in war fighting for the Soviet Union. This time Jack was anxious about his brother and wished that there was a way he could help him. Apart from being daring, Jack was a funny character and used mockery to make fun top his brothers. After learning of his brother's ordeals, he swore he would help him in all that he could even if it was just praying for him. One day Jack decide to join troops of young men taken to train as soldiers to fight in the war. He aimed to fight in the war hoping that one day he would meet with his brother and help him escape the war. According to his sister, this was a crazy idea that no one could escape while in the struggle.

Jack found himself in the army fighting for the United States. He fought patriotically for the US but with the motivation of one day meeting his brother. One afternoon during an ambush at their camp with the Soviet Union, Jack suffered a bullet on his right leg. Even though he was hurt, he was determined to find his way into the Russian army. So he took the cloths of a dead soviet soldier and put them on to look like one of them. His aim here was to meet his brother in the army. He knew what he was doing was very dangerous and an act of betrayal to his country but he insisted that in this case blood was heavy than any other thing he knew.

Conclusion

He met his brother finally after three days of surviving in a foreign troop. The meeting was not so pleasant the way he expected as his brother was mad at him why he had to risk his life to save his. Jack made fun of Albert that he had been in the army for that long yet he could not fight and think the way he did. Jack convinced him to escape the military with him but Albert so it as insane to try to escape in a land that they knew nothing about. He was confident that they would die of hunger in the wilderness of dangerous sneaking armies. Jack found it hard to convince his brother Albert and at the same time saw a lot of sense in his brother's reasoning. So instead he decided to join in the war fighting for the Soviet Union; a thing he always mocked his brother about serving in two different armies. They survived the war, and at the end of world war II, they left the military in 1945 to start new lives in Russia. Jack ended up fighting for an enemy nation during the world war II in the search to rescue his brother.
