Introduction

The humanistic struggle of addition by many people is perhaps one of the most universal and widespread problems in the world. Anyone regardless of their age, gender, sex, life privilege, black or white can be a victim of addiction. Addiction affects human just like a disease or a pathogen which doesn't care about the state of the body. The fact that the cause of addition is left between two choices "disease" or "choice" make this a topic of great interest. The most fundamental question which people keep asking themselves is, what causes addiction? It's a fact that a person is never blamed for falling sick due to cold weather but when he is diagnosed with cancer he is always assigned with the blame. Responsibility is one of the aspects that human has to take in instances of trouble or tragedy because they have to define who should take the blame. And thus, this forms a discussion. The argument takes two sides; the first declares that addition is actually not a choice and it's like a victim like any other victim of an ailment. On the other hand of the arguments which declares the choice aspect of addiction and the responsibility of the blames should be directed to them and their actions. Both sides definitely form a controversial topic which has valid points which will be clearly highlighted in this essay.

Addiction Can Be Mentioned to as a Choice

Addiction is actually a choice. As its stated form the article, "addition is a choice by Jeffrey Schaller's. the author believes that every person is responsible for their conscious behavior and their deliberate (Seligman et al. 2014). He considers the term addition as just a myth and he bases his opinion seemingly on what people believe in. this is actually true because to date there is still no evidence that has been found that testify that addiction is based on biology or psychology. According to the law of effect, the act of drug use is done repeated because of the positive effects that the drug users get from using the drugs (Seligman et al. 2014). The law of effect tries to prove that if a person is used to certain behavior it grows to become hard to stop despite the fact that it's possible to stop a behavior (Schaler, 2014). The individual is responsible for how they react and interact with the environment around leaving out manipulation or unconscious actions they are ultimately liable for everything they say or do. This is not quite an objective look at the topic but for one to have an experience with addition it could be as a result of dubbed behavior or habit. People get addict like you can be addicted to a certain variety of food which has an effect on body health (Seligman et al. 2014). Everything has a choice and the choice can ultimately turn into a habit hence I clearly agree that addiction is nothing but a life choice.

Addiction is a Disease

Addiction is defined as a disease by most association in medical just like any other disease such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Addiction is usually caused by a combination of factors such as biological, behavioral and environmental. Certainly, addiction involves developing changes in brain and body functioning. These specific changes have seen to be brought by risky substance use or may pre-exist. Addiction has consequences such as physical and mental disorders. In corresponding to belief, an action can be stated to be wrong or right depending on the culture and morals an individual belongs. Hence, the moral may be not against a certain kind of substance abuse that later on can become an addiction. (Seligman, 2014) Though, Drug addiction can be a result of unavoidable circumstance. In case an individual is recommended by the doctor or physician to use a certain kind of drug or substance for personal health, they are out of their free will. Continuous consumption of this kind of drugs or substance will lead to drug addiction (Chan, 2017). Evidently, addiction can be a disease, because an individual who consumes certain drugs or substance will get used to it to a point where without the use of the drug, the person is inactive. Moreover, this individual will be sick if they do not use the drugs or substances indulged into it. Hence, it is evident that addiction can be a disease whereby the drug and substance a person abuses become a medicine that the brain requires for optimal functioning.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the essay has clearly outlined the controversial topic of addiction. To be more specific if addiction is a choice or it can be treated like any other disease. My discussion clearly illustrates the aspect of addiction is a choice because of the aspect of for one to be addicted you have to develop a self a will that drive you to be addicted also as the first law clearly shows that doing something over and over can make one addicted. On the other hand, research and studies addiction can be a disease to whoever is abusing in the consumption process. It is important though to know there is a solution for any kind of addiction using certain right methods of corrective measures.
