As a Leader

For decades, the health care sector has been characterized by significant reforms and changes that are aimed at effective service delivery, patient and management safety, and high-quality care. For these reforms to occur, effective leadership must be put in place to drive the success of the changes at the different levels of health care. The health care sector is dynamic and complex that is prone to peculiar problems and challenges, just like any other sector. Effective leadership has, therefore, been viewed as a crucial way of shaping and solving cultural issues as well as driving the implementation of different changes and reforms in the health sector. Through improved health care organization performance, as a leader, I will be playing a significant role in improving the performance of health care systems by way of communicating whatever is happening, recognizing and bringing solutions to the problems. I will also be able to bring change through active management, planning, control, and organization. As a leader, I must, therefore, believe in the effect and impacts of the move to enable the entire health care organization to cope with the changes effectively. As a leader, it means that I will be able to communicate and provide clear guidelines as envisioned in the missions and visions of the health care organizations. I will also ensure that resources are available in the implementation of various reforms in the healthcare sector. Improving performance in health care will also empower me as a Leader to build effective teams and create positive cultures within the organization.

As a Beneficiary of Care

A beneficiary of care is a person who is legible to health care insurance through Medicare, other government health care programs, or Medicaid programs. Health insurance such as Medicare, ACA enhances patients to access health services by way of offering financial protection against the high cost that is relatively unaffordable (Gottlieb & Manchanda, 2017). Health insurance has both merits and demerits; for instance, it connects patients with care and lowers financial constraints to access health services. In most cases, beneficiaries may not know or understand their health data available in print from their physicians and clinicians; they may also not know what questions to ask or question the final decision of their treatment by their clinicians. Therefore improving performance in health care organizations will mean that as a beneficiary of care, I have the full responsibility of understanding my health status and that my voice is heard and determined in various decision making. It will also provide Health Insurances such as Medicare to develop more incentives that are geared toward empowering health care providers to be more accountable for the results and care of their patients; it will also improve the care coordination, which will consequently reduce the fragmentation in the delivery system. It also means that as a beneficiary of care, I will be able to question in case of inflated costs of medication.

As a Potential Leader

Potential leaders have a significant responsibility in the health care system. For years now, healthcare organizations have relied on skilled leaders to enhance and promote quality care delivery and patient safety. However, it has continually become a problem for most health care organizations in identifying potential leaders to succeed in others in various leadership roles. Hence, Health care sectors need to develop and create a well-structured proactive leadership development manual across the care continuum. Through this, it will help me as a potential leader acquire the required training and orientation, build more customer-oriented quality, understand the vision and missions of the health care concerning quality care. It will help me fill the leadership gap that would have been left by the retiring leaders. It will also instill more self-confidence and train me on how to handle various issues in health care.

Conclusion

Health care performance improvement has a significant impact on quality care delivery and patient safety within the health care sector. It is true to say that improving the performance of health care organizations also has an impact on the persons as mentioned above i.e., Leaders, Potential leaders, and the beneficiary of care. From this discussion, we find that improving the performance of health care sectors brings efficiency in the workforce and ensures that recipients of care have a great understanding of their health status. It also helps in orientating potential leaders in taking leadership roles. Performance improvement is therefore critical in securing the future of health care.
