Introduction

The healthcare system is a significant sector that requires all the leaders and stakeholders to stay updated with all the existing changes in Medicare legislation, amendments, and laws (LearnScape scenario, 2020). The healthcare administration changes the current laws and legislations to provide flexibility to help health care providers offer exceptional services, improve healthcare accessibility, quality, respond to emerging health emergencies and new healthcare requirements (Shi & Singh, 2019). The policy changes are made to report any medical errors to prevent such issues from happening, track, and improve the health care proficiencies. However, policymakers and the healthcare system should study the changes, and involve every stakeholder in evaluating their benefits and possible consequences.

The Policy that Addresses the New Medicare Requirements and its Impact on the Stakeholders

The Medicare payment policy is a commission established by the healthcare services to advise on payment issues in health and evaluate accessibility to quality healthcare and other problems that affect Medicare (European Commission, 2019). The policy also controls the healthcare services’ costs and training health professionals (Rosenberg, 2019). The healthcare providers and the patients are the most affected by the changes made by the payment policy.

The Possible Barriers to the Successful Implementation of the New Policy

The policy helps to improve the delivery of efficient and quality health services. However, there are challenges to successful implementation, which results from various causes, such as opposition from significant stakeholders, lack of clarity on the policy’s operational rules or recommendations (Nussbaum et al., 2018). More so, disagreements with the current guidelines, lack of long-term measures to handle future health emergencies, conflicts, and lack of coordination between the policymakers and those responsible for the policy execution can also result in challenges to implementing an effective policy.

Recommendations

The healthcare sector is a significant sector that requires planning to prevent medical errors. Therefore, when the healthcare administration and stakeholders are designing and implementing changes in the Medicare policy, they should consult all the stakeholders to avoid negative responses and outcomes (Teitelbaum & Wilensky, 2017). The policymakers should also carefully study and analyze the policies to help determine the best measures to improve the Medicare program and prepare long-term measures to deal with healthcare emergencies in the future. Additionally, the policymakers should ensure that the stakeholders understand the policy’s guidelines.
