Well, I am here today to speak about the immigration reforms. As Americans, our tradition for welcoming foreigners from around the globe has given us an advantage over other countries. We have shown the world how we can live without getting trapped in our past. Unfortunately, our immigration system has numerous challenges and everyone knows it. Individuals who come to our country in the right way by playing by the rules watch undocumented immigrants break the rules. As we speak now, there are business owners who take advantage of undocumented immigrants by offering them low wages with the exchange of being allowed to live under the shadow. It is too sad to learn that undocumented immigrants desperately want to embrace those responsibilities for them to remain in the shadows and protect their families from being torn apart.

It is 'us' as citizens who will take the responsibility of creating solutions to our immigration problems through the representatives that we elected. Our president Donald J. Trump promised to take action to curb immigration. He has tried to execute his plans in certain areas but unfortunately, it has attracted legal challenges and public protest. There have been numerous immigration reforms over the years and it has been considered as piecemeal and comprehensive. These reforms have been viewed by legislators as a solution to address the issue. Comprehensive immigration reforms attempt to resolve problems such as border security and interior enforcement and demand for high- and low-skilled labor. Our legislators have passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill that will provide citizenship to the undocumented immigrants though the bill was not voted for by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. But finally, the bill was passed which brought a significant overhaul to our nation's immigration laws.

My fellow citizens, I will ask you to be a nation that does not kick out striving hopeful immigrants. We are a nation of immigrants and at some point we were all strangers. I will suggest that the states and the federal government should double the number of border patrol officers. This will give undocumented immigrants a pathway to citizenship. The undocumented immigrants will, in turn, pay their fine and start pay taxes like any other citizens. And researchers and experts explained how this could help grow our economy by shrinking deficits. I still believe that the best way to solve our immigration problems is by encouraging our leaders to work together in passing such a common-sense law. We should build a country that our children will be proud of, a country that everyone will feel secured to live in, be it you are an immigrant or a native occupant. And that is the America that our forefathers and generation before them built for us.
