Introduction
Human Resource Management is a profession that does not only require professional qualifications but other ethical skills because it deals with managing human labor in an organization. Competent HRM leaders deal with situations that need a lot of tolerance and understanding because they have to manage people from different cultural divides and ethnic beliefs. Therefore, leading people in an organization or company requires an individual to study both Human Resource Management and Leadership. Human resource managers are also responsible for recruiting and hiring the most qualified employees. The paper examines the concepts of good HR leadership and uses Gloria Chin as an example of a good HR leader.
Gloria Chin is one of the best HR leaders and works as the Director of Corporate HR and Corporate Services (Campbell 2018). She won a medal of commendation for displaying her leadership skills by promoting good industrial relations and establishing workers' training and skills upgrading initiatives. Gloria believes in workers' capacity building. She is at the heart of training employees on how to become future competent leaders upon the exit of people like her. HRM leadership requires a high level of trust in the leaders and sufficient commitment of the organization to come up with transformational leadership in the HR Management role (Conchie 2013). To play desirably the role of a good leader that can permanently influence the lives of people under him or her, and HRM leader should display tolerable behavior and controlled temperament.
Many good HR leaders continue to show what it takes to lead groups of people and manage them for quality service delivery to organizations and companies. Therefore, Human Resource managers or those who are still studying to become one should aspire to be leaders. This aspiration calls for them to go out of their way to gather information from experienced leaders in HRM. This initiative helps Human Resource personnel understand how to be leaders and to perform exemplary well to build a good reputation and legacy (Boon, Eckardt, Lepak, & Boselie 2018). A good HR leader should precisely and strategically assess the role of training, just like Gloria Chin. This will ensure that employees are trained and are competent and professional.
From the analysis of Gloria's leadership traits, a good leader should be tolerant and able to give solutions to issues affecting the normal operations of an organization. She goes ahead to express challenges that are dragging the developments brought about by technology advancement to be the older generation of employees. However, she values training and capacity building new and young employees to take up the challenges brought about by technology as she works on retaining the older generation (Umair, Shahzad, Munir, & Tabassum 2011). Her leadership style clearly shows that she is understanding and sees the future of workers under her as the biggest priority of her HR career.
Conclusion
Conclusively, Human Resource Management is a profession that requires strong leadership skills in whichever level. This requirement is vital because whichever position someone holds in the HR department, they will have a small group of people under their Management in different sectors in the organization. Therefore, they must always be leaders that inspire workers to continue doing better. HR leaders should build confidence and motivation for their employees and ensure that they develop individually. Gloria Gin's case is an ideal case of good HR leadership.
