Introduction
Sam Sullivan graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in communication. After his graduation has been involved various jobs like public and journalism. He later joins nonprofit sector and works in the office. Sam is not happy about his boss treatment regarding policy change. This essay is sought to give a review of if I agree with the policy of the organization on the restriction of the pick- up for the homeless to just two a day. I also analysis if an agreed with the form in which Sam reacted to the situation.
Fair and justice
In any kind of organization, justice should be considered because it takes justice to unite the people working under the same organization. Fairness in every undertaking within an organization form an essential aspect in harmony created between the managers and employee. In "The Homeless at the Door" Sam and the boss had conflicts about picking up service to the homelessness.
This confrontation and argument make the boss pile up more work to him. Furthermore, she could force Sam to work till late hours. She felt Sam was violating the common rule early set and consideration of limited resources they were giving to the homelessness. In my opinion, I think the boss acted oppressively out of anger and desperation. it was not a wise idea subjecting Sam with loads of work since it was unfair, instead they could have a sit-down and comes with an agreement to resolve their differences and comes up with an appropriate solution.
Organization policy
Disparities depicted on Sam's personal conviction in the need to give services to the homeless and policy of non-profit organization gives a controversy on which could be possibly better to use. According to me Sam's compassionate to the homelessness would have led to the downfall of the non-profit organization. The basic necessities including toiletries were a limited product, therefore giving it out anyhow at any time of day would result in a shortage of the available product and stock.
The policy of the non-profit organization is a structure that organizes and put everything into place. It first instills discipline among the homelessness. They were required to adhere to rules by arriving earlier at the door within the specific two-hour time period. Perhaps I would prefer the non-profit organization policy to prevail despite any odds.
According to the policy that restricts the pick-up hours for the homeless I could agree with in the aspect that was clear that the policy would be necessary because since they couldn't afford the cost of hiring a new attended and also the fact the homeless spent non-working time. According to me Sam approach to the situation I would consider that he should have first consulted with the admiration to avoid any conflict. I also agree with the same in the aspect he was offering service to the homeless people. Conclusion
It is evident that the organization have their own set of policies to be followed to maintain an order of activities and desired practices. Controversies, conflict, and dispute are normal things that happen at any company, thus should have means of tackling such problems. For instance, arbitration can be applied or just a resolution between disputing parties. Otherwise, all organization should set a prevailing policy no matter the opposition created against. The policy serves an important purpose of safeguarding the organization status.
