Which of the following thinkers—Hobbes, Locke, Montesquieu, and Rousseau—most strongly championed a republican form of government, and who most strongly opposed it?

Montesquieu strongly championed a republican form of government. He said that the best government would be the one that separates the powers of the legislature, judiciary, and executive. His theory was adopted as the foundation of the American Constitution. Rousseau strongly opposed the republican form of government. He argued that man was naturally good and was corrupted by society. He advocated for a government where there would be no leaders.

I consider the Wars of the Three Kingdoms as the most significant European conflict also referred to as the British Civil Wars. A series of intertwined conflicts happened between the kingdoms of Scotland, Ireland, and England. As a result, Ireland and Scotland regained their parliament which had been abolished by the Commonwealth.

What do most scholars today consider the most significant contributing factor that explains how the Spanish were able to conquer the Aztecs?

Spanish armies had weapons that were significantly superior to those used by Aztecs. They had more than a dozen portable guns and used gunpowder something the Aztecs could never get at their disposal.

Compare and contrast the following political philosophies summed up by the expressions "L'état, c'est moi" and "first servant of the state." What were their similarities and differences?

"L'état, c'est moi" means "I am the state". Both philosophies promote the principle of subsidiarity and sovereignty of the people. It argues that higher authorities should not intrude on the authority identities of a lower level unless its intervention fosters the achievement of a proposed action for the greater good of society. The difference between these political philosophies is that "L'état, c'est moi" views citizens as the owners of the state while " first servant of the state" Views citizens as subordinates of the state.
