Amazon is a multinational company based in America that has grown into an influential economic and cultural force in the world (Lang et al., 2012). The success of the company lies not only in its innovative technologies but also in its leaders who are always curious, innovative, and ready to learn to attain the company’s goals and objectives. Amazon’s mission is to serve all consumers through its online and physical stores while focusing on price, selection, and convenience (Lang et al., 2012). Its vision is to be the most customer-centric company that serves all the needs of online buyers (Lang et al., 2012). The core values of the company are customer obsession, ownership, frugality, a bias for action, talent, and innovation (Lang et al., 2012). Therefore, Amazon leaders are not only set to win, but performing their roles and responsibilities also helps them achieve the company’s mission, vision, and values.

Olsavsky focuses on price as one of the critical factors that ensure Amazon serves all consumers. By overseeing the financial activities of the company, the CFO can determine appropriate prices and deals that consumers across the world can afford.
