Introduction

Since 2011, the radical rise in the increase of hate groups was slowly diminishing, with many individuals campaigning to reduce the extreme radicalization of these groups (Miller). Subsequently, this helped to increase the level of security across the nation. However, the presidential election campaign and the rise of President Donald Trump to the pinecone of power, saw the fueling of hate groups rise at an alarming rate (Miller). The increased campaign and fight against these groups is widely supported by the government terming the United States as a white man's land. This has broadly divided the nation, as it erodes the morale of the country.

On the other hand, President Donald Trump openly speaks against the increased level of immigrants in the country. His speech seems to have taken a critical direction and focus, as it aims at expanding the hate rate between the Americans and the Muslims (Miller). Trump's argument may be assessed using the act-utilitarian laws, which seeks to help the benefits of most of the Americans, by insulating them from any possible terrorist activities. His speech against the Muslims, sends a clear picture of the concept of moral controversy, as this affects most of the American-Muslims, for the benefit of the majority American community.

Among the major groups that have been profoundly affected by the moral controversy are the Muslim groups. The president is calling for a total shutdown of the Muslim community in the nation as a way of curbing the issues of drugs and increased rape cases. Never the less, the fight is critically crafted to help benefit the dominance of white supremacy. The black and other minorities in the nation are suffering under the York of white supremacy dominance.

There are several factors which have distinctively outlined the shortcoming of the utilitarian theory. For instance, the minority groups are in constant threat, as a result of securing the largest White population. In this case, the Utilitarian approach may not offer critical answers to this burning question, but rather focus on the philosophy of care.

The Ethical Frameworks

Utilitarianism

The utilitarian theory shades a critical analysis between moral decisions and the principle of usefulness. Primarily, the approach seeks to justify whether the decision made is ethical and how it affects the majority. The principle aims to ensure that the majority of the group benefits (Miller).

Moreover, this can be assessed in a manner through which a single piece of action can bring about benefits to the majority of the group. In many cases, the practical principle justifies the sacrifice for the interests of the majority. Each action must be justified and critically assessed to determine whether the effects will benefit the majority of the population.

Despite the prevalence of the theory, there are several certain contradictive features through which have affected the decision-making process. For instance, the approach supports the concept of sacrifice by setting out our self-interests (Miller). However, the opinion, on the contrary, asserts that we should always maximize any potential benefit, which contradicts the decision-making process.

In the bottom line, the controversy held by utilitarian is slightly associated with the concept of democracy, which does not support the minority in a given group. A utilitarian approach will only help the majority while overlooking the ideas and concepts presented by the opposition of the group.

The Ethics of Care

The ethic of care is oriented in seeing the essence of moral significance, which is determined by the element of dependences and relationships. The ethics of care help to assess the importance of considering and treating every person in the society or the domain, with the same treatment. Each member, in this case, has to adhere to the care ethics by considering what might be harmful to them and any other person. The concept of ethics of care theory tries to bring together every stakeholder on the same page, by making them understand the pain, one party feels, in their current situation. As a result, this helps create a reasonable solution to the ailing situation. A person's action in trying to bring about good care to another individual may not be questioned. In this case, the Care ethics theory may encourage the employment of controversial acts to help ensure that a person or a group of people benefits.

Application

The Utilitarian theory critically supports the controversy in the article, since it ignores the minority groups. Moreover, it encourages the support of the major parties in this case, with little considerations being focused on the minority party. The issue of undermining and campaigning against Muslims in the US seems to be a national security issue (Miller). Never the less, the controversy supported by this notion is involved, as it supports White supremacy.

On the contrary, the Utilitarian theory is supported in this case, since the campaign, against these radical groups, is conducted (Miller). Never the less, this has been implemented based on saving the majority groups. However, the concept of terming the Muslim and other radical groups as violence has increased the controversy of the matter

On the other hand, the Ethic of care supports a different yet distinctive concept to deal with the issue of contention. The theory supports the essence of caring and assessing what other parties think of themselves. As a result, the disagreement of blaming the minority groups, which has resulted in violence, is being discouraged. This has been achieved by calling for critical assessment and analyzing all possible solutions that might incorporate the two parties without conflicts.

Comparison

The two theories share divergent views in offering the solution to the controversy. The utilitarian approach supports the majority, by sacrificing the minority, to attain the maximum utility or benefits (Miller). In this case, the opposition is not considered or offered a possible solution to the current circumstance.

On the other hand, the Ethics of care supports a different divergent view, which calls for total support and incorporating each other. The theory supports the need for incorporating and valuing each other as a way of ensuring that even the disadvantaged are shown great support.

Evaluate

The ethics of Care theory gives a suitable and more argumentized concept that addresses the matter by incorporating all the affected stakeholders. Unlike the utilitarian, which offers accommodation to views that only support the majority, the ethics of care is a diverse theory that encourages the understanding and responsibility of every affected member. In the bottom line, the ethics of care does not undermine the moral controversy. This approach may be used to settle different ailing situations, unlike the Utilitarian theory.
