In the history of the world, there has been a lot of gender inequality where women are discriminated against and considered to be inferior to men. In most communities, when children are growing up, they are introduced to different roles depending on their gender. Both girls and boys have different responsibilities within the society, and various members of the community teach them. The boys are informed about their duties within the society by the male adults within their families while the female adults in their families show the girls. Usually, parents are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that their children are introduced to the customs and cultures of their community during their early development stages. The girls are taught about house chores while the boys are added to masculine tasks within their families and the city in general. When growing up, there are also different people that the children grow around (Ganle et al. , 335-345). They have a significant impact on the development behavior of the children. Therefore, while in the early development states, parents are required to ensure that their children only mingle with individuals who can influence their progress positively. When not well taken care of and controlled by their parents, then they are exposed to the risk of developing negative behaviors as they grow. Unlike in the traditional settings, the modern society has been affected by urbanization. Most people moving from the rural areas to the urban environments have contributed to the erosion of the existing moral and cultural practices of various communities. Concerning this, most women have continued to be discriminated against in different parts of the world. Many factors contribute to them being discriminated which include, cultures, urbanization and the universal human belief of women being inferior. Taking an example of leadership in the world, only a handful of women are given the opportunity to be leaders (Ganle et al. , 335-345). Men have taken most of the leadership positions due to the common belief that women are inferior to men and that they are incapable of leading people. This is a significant form of discrimination that women face in the current 21st-century society.

According to research, gender equality is a right that is outlined in the constitutions of many countries. The laws of their state protect both male and female individuals. They are required to be treated equally, and no one should be considered to be inferior to the other. However, cultures have led to many people believing that women are inferior to men and they continue to be discriminated against in different parts of the world (Peeters, Lnda and Irena, 94-109). At the workplace, job responsibilities should be allocated according to the qualifications of individuals. However, there have been many problems linking discrimination of women by disregarding their skills to perform particular jobs. The management of organizations should take the responsibility of ensuring that all employees are evaluated equally and provided with the same leadership positions without regard for their gender. Most women in their workplaces complain of them being denied leadership positions. The reason for this is that they are considered to be inferior and unfit to lead large organizations. Instead, they are delegated to smaller leadership positions which are supposed to be less tasking (Manjula, 50). This is an assumption that has led to many qualified women being denied an opportunity to bring change within the corporate world. Further, it is also cited that receiving promotions after employee evaluations are not reasonably done. Most women miss developments due to the societal norm of considering women to be inferior and only capable of taking care of home.

The family setting is composed of a married couple and children. The parents are responsible for providing basic needs to their children and also taking care of their properties. These are duties that should be shared equally and not with discrimination. However, in the society today, women are considered to be the caregivers within their homes. They are expected to take care of the house, children and also go to work. The man who is considered to be the head of the family is consequently likely to provide for the family needs. This is gender bias as some of the duties delegated to women may wear them out yet they have the possibility of sharing them equally with the men in the house.

What is represented as the essential and unchanging characteristics of women?

Women are known as individuals who possess different essential characteristics. They are referred to as the caregivers of their families. In most communities of the world, when a girl is growing up, she is taught about their responsibilities I taking care of her family. While living with their parents, girls are taught different skills and gain knowledge through personal experiences they have with their parents. When they are married, and with a family, the girls are then able to put the skills and knowledge learned from their parents into practice (Ganle et al. , 335-345). However, due to the introduction of education in the hospitality industry in the modern society, most women have ignored their responsibilities and instead opted to hire trained nannies and caretakers to do their duties in their homes.

One of the primary characters of women is being responsible. For a long time in history, women have been identified as individuals who are required to show responsibility and accountability in taking care of their families. When growing up, they are taught how to take care of their homes, which include their husbands, and their children. Women that show responsibility in maintaining their families are more respectable than those who do not (Rama, 27). While at the workplace, women are also considered to be responsible for the performance of different task assigned to them. Those that are responsible and accountable are easily promoted and provided with benefits at the workplace. This is a trait that has helped to reduce the rate of discrimination amongst women at the workplace. It had led to women being considered for leadership positions in big corporations unlike in the past when men were the only eligible individuals for leadership positions.

Additionally, women are considered as having a character which portrays their organization. They are organized individuals who can plan their activities without failing. Both internal and external environments influence their failure to accomplish specific activities. However, a large percentage of women are known to be organized and have goals that they would want to achieve in the future. This entails identifying problems that may hinder them from reaching their set goals and objectives in life and coming up with long-term solutions (Ganle et al. , 335-345). When they find the most appropriate solutions, they plan on how to execute them so that they can achieve positive results gradually. This is a character that has been admirable about women in the corporate sector. Considering that most of the women have gone through higher learning institutions to get an education, they have higher chances of getting employed within the corporate sector than it was in the past. The organization is an essential element in any organization, women have increased chances of being top managers and leaders within the society and evade the norm of being considered as caregivers and being incapable of handling complex tasks.

How are women supposed to act and what sort of social roles are women prescribed in the sources?

In the modern society, gender equality is a factor that every human has been debating about. Governments across the world have discussed the importance of maintaining gender equality among citizens. Having a society where every person is respected and not discriminated on their gender line can be helpful in the development and creation of peace and harmony. Just like men, women are expected to be respectful to any individual (Fernandes, 71). The constitution protects every individual regardless of their race, gender or religion. Therefore, a woman is not exceptional, and they should respect the right of others individuals. The infringement of the rights of another individual could lead to their prosecution in a court of law. However, it is also evident that there is still discrimination against women in most parts of the world. Concerning this, women are expected to fight against discrimination through the use of human rights organizations. Through the world, human rights activities women can fight for equality in different parts of the word.

Additionally, women have for a long time been discriminated against in leadership in their places of work. They are only given a lower leadership position due to the perception that they are inferior in leadership qualities as compared to men. Concerning this, women are expected to fight for the rights to being given equal opportunities as the men in the society. Both men and women should be employed and given leadership positions based on their qualifications. Gender discrimination should not be tolerated under any circumstances in the corporate world.

There is a distinct relationship between social classes, race and gender roles. Women that are highly paid in their job are cited as spending significantly less time in doing household chores as compared to those that earn less income (Ganle et al. , 335-345). Ideally, the women earning high salaries end up using their money to hire women who are less paid as they spend more hours at work. The lower and middle social classes' women are commonly known to spend more hours doing household jobs. The high earning women mostly hire them. The high economic and social demands lead to the women in lower social classes working for the highly paid ones so that they can sustain themselves. If not working, they find themselves being strained by the needs and wants of their family members. Therefore, after completing their jobs, they end up working on household chores so that they can sustain their needs within the society. Concerning race, the women in minority groups are highly discriminated against in most parts of the world. They are considered to be inferior thus making it difficult for them to get employment. Therefore, they are forced to work in households as nannies as they struggle to sustain their needs in the long run. Considering that the lower earning women spend most of their time juggling between jobs to maintain their families, it is evident that they strain themselves in trying to be parents and at the same time working to get an income. The highly paid women consequently have enough time for mothering without compromising their financial capabilities in the society. This causes a disparity between women base n social classes.

How did the representation of women in the sources contribute to or undermine existing social hierarchies?

In the modern society, women have been enrolled in many learning institutions. They have an objective of enlightening themselves so that they are not pinned down by the existing traditional cultural norms. Women should no longer be viewed as being subordinate to men. Both men and women should take responsibility for equally taking care of their families. Additionally, in the workplace, women should be provided with similar opportunities as men. This would help in the creation of an environment where productivity would be achieved. Further, due to urbanization and education to many people, the traditions that forced women to be hou...
