Introduction
Every college student desires to land their dream job once they graduate. During my search for potential employers, I managed to identify three companies that I would like to join as an employee in an entry position.
I chose Marketing Assistant position in 1st Line Global Company because it had a clear development plan which centered around expanding the client portfolio across the US. The expansion would create opportunities for entry level marketing assistants to grow. The job also interested me because I am skilled in sales, negotiations, and Microsoft Excel amongst other qualifications needed for the position. I also chose the Marketing Coordinator position at Atlas Management Group. I was primarily motivated by the idea of providing daily support to the marketing management team since it meant operating a pivotal role in the department. I would be tasked with identifying consumer trends, coming up with solutions, and implementing marketing tactics to improve customer exposure. I saw the position an excellent opportunity to utilize my sales and communication skills, which were some of the critical requirements. My third choice was Spa Monkeys Ltd. Marketing where I applied for the Administration Assistant position. I was intrigued by the job description since I would be working with the sales and marketing team to come up with sales strategies, marketing campaigns social media promotions, events, and trade shows. My sales skills would fall to good use in this position, and I would also have the chance to exercise independent thinking as well as customer relationships.
I demonstrated a high degree of proficiency for all the positions in the three companies. I have worked as part of a team to attend an alliance conference where we signed three crucial contracts that led to a 35% increase in sales over the next quarter. We also analyzed data that helped to reduce 10% in the monthly spending. I also have experience in introducing and selling products to customers using my excellent sales skills. The positions also required someone skilled in Microsoft office programs which is one of my strengths.
I have acquired most of the skills required for these jobs over the course of my education. The hiring manager might not pick me based on my current qualifications and hence, I am currently pursuing other activities that will improve my skills in the field of marketing after graduation. One position required fluency in Mandarin as one of the qualifications, and this is an excellent opportunity since I am obtaining foreign language skills while completing my minor Asia study. I am also pursuing an internship in customer relationship management which will improve my ability to understand and respond to the consumers. I am pursuing a selling class to enhance the chances of closing a deal as well as my communication skills.
I decided to re-word my resume to address the critical requirements of the job postings. I believe that a company will only choose employees who can help it to advance its agenda and objectives. Re-wording the resume to speak directly to the requirements shows the hiring manager how I can be an excellent fit for the organization.
I believe that the career development office can assist me towards getting my job in marketing. I can get tips on coming up with the best resume as well as looking for areas that I need to improve in my career. The office can tell me which additional skills are most in-demand in the marketing profession, and how I can acquire them.
Conclusion
This exercise is vital in understanding the landscape of the job market. It shows the importance of having the right combination of qualifications before gaining acceptance into any organization. I will apply it to my career decisions by making sure my resume is always in sync with the requirements of a firm before sending my application.
