Introduction
Zooniverse traced its origin from an initial project from Oxford University known as galaxy zoo. It was intended to classify as many as a million galaxies by the use of a Hubble telescope as teamwork as it could have been challenging to be achieved by different groups working on the same field of research. Through collaboration, it improved as it attracted many volunteers to support it. Their mission is to discover other planets around the stars apart from the earth from which we live in. Apart from Zooniverse planet hunter the latest astronomy emerged as a science of the citizen's project to find planets using human eyes simply means its acts as a tradition with the help of machines such as Kepler space telescope through the use of data analysis which was launched by a team led by Debra Fischer.
Planet hunter believes the power of the human eye which is majorly believed to be able to differentiate and recognize visual patterns than computer devices (Cosentino, Lovis, Pepe, Cameron, Latham, Molinari & Buchschacher, 2012). This is done through data interpretation from NASA Kepler space which can be able to identify stars brightness changes through observation, and the result represented as data through graphs which are known as a starlight curve which are helpful in identifying exoplanets in the universe. Light curves are sorted as either regular, irregular or pulsating depending on their pattern formation.
A regular light curve goes up once down once making an apex and finally drops while a pulsating light curve goes along the Y-axis, and finally, an irregular light curve forms a predictable pattern along Y-axis. Below are images of the above curves. The figure shown below shows the combination of the three light curves.
Figure 1: Combination of the Three Light Curves.
From the picture above it comes out clearly that the other planets exist as they can be practically observed having varying images depending on their light cover from the earth. Therefore the universe is a great place to be identified so as to improve the human race as some of the planets can sustain life both of animals and plants.
Planet hunter helps through crowdsourcing helps the scientist to interpret large data by either using volunteers or also contrasting different citizen project to be able to arrive in viable results to be used in cosmos development. Through citizen groups, students also will be encouraged to participate which will also transfer the idea of discussion to school students to be able to discuss on planet hunters in groups. This will help to strengthen citizen science in modern astronomy.
The project has grown to be an educational activity by improving the scientific literacy about exoplanet research as well as more efficient means for astronomers to get better data (Jenkins, 2010).Also, planet hunter involves human organs such as an eye since it will be able to identify things that cannot be recognized by a computer algorithm. Therefore planet hunters are of more importance to the citizen's scientist in that it will provide an open area of discussion among different groups of people giving it a sense of diversification which later expands the citizen's knowledge on the study of the universe.
The study will help the scientist to study on the cosmos through the use of curve difference and the information collected from the large data from different groups of citizens that may be having clarity on cosmos. Working as a cahoots between students about the plant hunter can also add a positive mark to the improvement of its research in the research environment .Due to the small contribution between different scholars a culture of discovering point x has been possible giving out a tremendous result to the human race due to the discovery of other planets.
Planet hunters also faces a lot of setbacks such as shielding from the strong heat from the sun and also requires high and accurate methods of solving aerospace problems encountered during the process. Through hard times encountered during the process the astronauts have been able to develop their special skills and taught in schools and also to the collaborated citizens. According to Jenkin (2010) smaller planets have been identified of some of them are potentially habitable. Therefore the invention will be an advantage to the human race since some planets might be used to solve some of the problems faced by human beings.
Planet hunter needs to be supported all over the world as this could give a chance for the continuity discovery of other exoplanets to increase the number that has already been discovered. This will give and encourage the scientist work on space and continue as a learning process thought the human race. Crowdsourcing acts as part of the techniques that can be used to develop the planet hunter development so as new methods or techniques can be identified to be used to give out viable exoplanets results.
Conclusion
In conclusion air space also needs designers so as to design equipment's that could analyze the light through the space craft that can be able to resist shocks that occurs as the aircraft crosses the air. Through this zooniverse process by the use of planet hunters will be successful in future due to collaboration citizens.
