The piano entails a stringent musical instrument which is composed of strings which are struck with hammers to produce sounds which conform to a particular rhythm. It is mainly played with the use of a keyboard containing a row of keys which are strike or pressed with thumbs or fingers of both hands and consequently forcing the hammer to strike the musical strings. I chose the instrument over the rest because of its best qualities i.e. its beauty, intensity, grace, simplicity and singularity. To any person who loves music, the piano has a comforting allure regardless of age, skill or sex. In many cases, the songwriters, as well as the composers, have a higher proficiency in piano since the keyboard in the instrument offers an effective means of experimenting with complex harmonic and also melodic interplay in a bid to try out the independent melody lines. Also, the instrument is used in televisions and films since most of them permit the songwriters and composers to try basslines and melodies despite the music being orchestrated for other instruments.

There are some of the outstanding qualities and features of the instrument that captivate my interest. First is that the piano is more simple and effective in playing and also judging from the sense of singularity; it outweighs other instruments. This makes the piano easier to learn. Pianos are also sensitive to touch which is proportional to the quality. The greater the sensitivity the greater the expressive possibility range. Besides, the piano is unique than other instruments because, with its innovation, one can not only play many notes simultaneously but also have an infinite as well as an instantaneous control over the dynamics of the notes. From my opinion therefore, these features of the instrument captivate my interest because unlike others, a performer will now be in a position to play a melody, a chord or even succession of the notes with every individual not having its softness or loudness level.

Piano mainly plays a big role in the orchestra context. The piano is always a tuned instrument and it is possible to play many notes at any given time. Basing on its orchestral role, the piano is seen to have a good support to the harmony of any song. Besides, the piano acts as a solo instrument which plays both harmonies as well as melody. In many cases, the piano is usually treated as another member incorporated in a symphony than as a featured instrument. Thus in the orchestral context, the piano tends to be used as a feature than as support even though it can be more as a result of the instrument's nature than the desired use of the composer.

Every given musical instrument has its distinct sounds. Most of the musical instruments fall into the following sound categories i.e. woodwind, bowed strings, percussion among others. Therefore some features distinguish the single music instrument families in sound production. The strings have a vibrato strength, onset harmonic skew and also an average spectral centroid. The brass, on the other hand, has a variance of the spectral centroid with the harmonic skew. In the case of the single reed, there exist the sound of the pitch variance in addition to the harmonic skew.

Different musical instruments have different sounds. The sound of a violin, for instance, comes about due to the interaction between many parts. The vibration of the strings in the violin produces a spectacular sound. On the other hand, a flute entails an aerophone wind instrument capable of producing its sound from the flow of air across a certain opening. Finally, a trumpet plays both melody and harmony and also gives support to any musical rhythm.
