Introduction
Technological advancements/innovation make daily life more convenient and enjoyable for everyone. In modern society today, we experience the advancement of technology on a daily basis which many people rely on. Most people spend their time in completely artificial environments where they use technological devices to do most of their work. In the information technology industry, computers are a technological advancement that helps us to perform at our best. There have been many inventions in computers like windows 10 which is a lifesaving innovation which has perfected other flaws from other windows. However, technological advancement can bring social and ethical consequences in Amish society which will be analyzed in this paper.
Science and technology are advancing things at an amazing rate. From calculators to computers inventions they have been made possible by science. Computers are the most important invention to be invented, they have brought technology development in society by helping people to learn new things every day. The history of the computer systems goes way back to 1600s and within those years there have been massive advancements and many innovations like windows and applications. Window 10is one of the greatest improvement in the history of technological innovation. It is software innovated by Microsoft to perfect the flaws made by windows 7 and 8. It is beneficial to people who use computer systems on a daily basis since it allows the user to personalize the computer to your style which has been helpful to blind people.
Although computer systems have brought a positive impact in Amish society, they have also brought an ethical dilemma regarding who is able to access the information and how they should use that information. We find many people misusing that information through social media which has brought chaos in our Amish society. Since the advancement of information technology, many people have privacy issues and problems associated with computers like identity theft. By use of a computer it has become very easy for identity thieves to access your personal information and easily change it. This issue has been brought by technological advancement since during past days, this problem was not diverse. It arose from the time Amish embraced technology and made a shift from their usual farm work. Many Amish are now working in offices and in businesses where they use computers regularly.
Since the innovation and advancement of computers systems, invasion of privacy has become a serious issue in our Amish society. In previous Amish have been so careful when it comes to their privacy. Since the innovation of the computers, their privacy is put at risk every time a company enters personal information in the computer database. These databases are present from banks to hospitals as a way of tracking appointments and storing information for a longer period of time. Although these companies goal is not to use our personal information in an illegal way, their database is vulnerable and can be accessed by wrong people who are familiar with computer system software's to compromise our privacy. Many people have learned about the innovation advancements like windows 10 and it has become so easy for them to access such information even in a firewall protected system. This has increased fear in the Amish society because one may not know if his private information is safe.
Technological advancements have acted as a substitute for all characteristics of life. The purpose of technological innovation is supposed to be beneficial to human beings, however, the benefits have not been long-term since people in different sectors like education and work are becoming over-dependent on technology. In the Amish society today, many people are not able to interact without the use of technology like computers and smartphones. This is evident that technology has brought a negative impact on the Amish society since it is demolishing traditions that have existed for a long period of time. They have created a non-physical environment like cyberspace where people interacting do not require physical movement beyond typing. This has discouraged Amish people from having face to face human interaction creating a negative influence in the society.
Conclusion
In conclusion, technological advancements with no doubt have brought a negative influence on the people of the Amish society. People no longer visualize anything without technology or the help of a computer system. Technology has taken all of the human contacts of interaction in society and replaced it with machines and software. It has increased crime where people can easily fake or create imaginary identities using computers. Although we can deny plenty of positive impacts brought by technological advancements like maximum efficiency and results in its impact on the Amish society have been negative. From my personal perspective, the invention of computers and its software's has a more negative influence on the world. All things seem to have dramatically changed since the invention that at times it feels like we are being run by these technological inventions.
