Introduction
Every time people communicate in vernacular language, primarily through the use of slang, which some time has both positive and negative effect on the local language applied. Then the introduction of slang, for instance, lead to the development of a new English vocabulary. Slang, in its way, does not have either positive or negative impacts. However, it highlights the nuances of the form of communication used by linking the speaker to the sense of culture and the ways of the lives of the people. In most cases, it connects peers of the same groups in generational bonds. These people using it usually bend it to fit their continually changing needs. Therefore, each generation of youths comes up with particular slang language they can quickly identify with. Insight for this discussion will mainly be drawn from a working setting that highly depends on communication to facilitate passing and acquiring information.
Effects of Slang on Career of Students
Despite the fact that slag forms the basis for the formation and evolution of language, the use of this language degrades the quality of the formal language, which is mostly used in all places ranging from schools, Jobs, and religious places have been eroded in the process. The rise in the use of this new form of language is very common in young people, mostly teens in the same age group. However, it is very crucial to note that each place identifies itself with a particular slang format. In simple terms, this means that different regions have different slang. The core theme to be discussed in this paper is the effects of the use of prolonged slang later in these groups' lives. Also, in this paper, a real-life scenario will be analyzed of how slang affects an individual then in life. Also, the continuous use of the slang language can be stated as the dialect of the language. This is due to the fact that it has a completely different vocabulary from the original English language(McWhorter, 2012). The variation is mostly brought about by the formation of new words and meanings as the language is continuously different people (Washington Edu ). However, since the new words formed may not be known by some people not familiar with this kind of communication, effective communication will be extremely limited in this case. For instance, in a public campaign to stop gender-based violence, an 18 years teen may excessively use slang language in her speech to address a crowd of both elderly and middle-age audiences to convey her message.
On top of it, the use of this form of communication will, without a doubt, cause miss information, therefore then intended message will be accurately passed since the main purpose for any language is usually communion. Hence some listeners may be disadvantaged. Conversantly, this form of miss-communication is usually very common in jobs mostly among the teens addicted to using this language. Communication is, without a doubt, a core part of people's experiences; however, a lot of people still struggle to speak in the required language. In contrast to the emergence of new communication technology, poor communication remains a major barrier in workplaces (The Next Web, 2015). It prevents the effective passing and acquisition of information between the organization's head and the employees on a full scale. Therefore, these poor communications in the workplace have led to many resenting their jobs. Dependency on slang in this case, especially from freshly employed graduates, is a good example. Once these slang dependent people get employed in certain areas, under-communication, miscommunication, or complete lack of communication is very common, limiting their abilities to work better. Language with good grammar and can be understood by many has the power to unite together, motivate, and enhance cooperation and understanding among workers.
Additionally, if the workers in a particular workplace lack basic communication skills, uncertainty, and a strong feeling of doubt is formed between them. This causes the employees to begin having doubts about their jobs, positions they hold in the company, and even losing their self-confidence in the process. Physiologically, the employee's level of confidence and stress escalate gradually. Therefore, a lack of confidence in workplaces in a direct ticket to fail. If not checked, poor communication may further escalate, making them lose their trust in one another or even to those that lead them. Also, in a situation where people are unaware of the event unfolding, the level of rumors and unnecessary gossip is likely to spike up.
If this of poor communication is not checked, low productivity, unmet deadlines, and a number of the unfinished task are likely to increase. This is because of the increased la lack of information. This phenomenon is very true since when an employee is unsure of the task he/she e is given, she/he is likely to shy away from telling the supervisor. After the reward of this is, therefore, low productivity and uncompleted high cases of unreported tasks. In addition to this, another disadvantage that may fall on the organization is poor consumers' services. This is because under communication brought by slang cause creates wreak havoc, particularly on the wellbeing of the individual employees. The Situation is usually assumed to be worsening when the mischief spreads to the consumers. In a situation where this happens, real evil caused by miscommunication has taken its turn. The communication flows between the employees always find their way into the consumers. For instance, they may not be receiving the product as per the policies of the company.
With my analysis of the matter at hand, my realization is that effective communication is fundamental for the success of any organization. Therefore, besides checking the skills, technical know-how, and experience of the job applicants, employers should also be more focused on ensuring they hire a team that is cable of communicating is a clear and concise manner( Next Web, 2015). This is not only limited in reading but only in writing as well. According to my realization, however, schools and institutions of learning should be on the front line in ensuring these communication skills are taken as any other form of technical skill. This can be done by mostly controlling the use of slang is schools as it is known to erode the quality of formal education available.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is indeed true that communication is power, and when handled very carefully can be very beneficial to a lot of people. Human beings depend on communication to survive and thrive. This has been man's trait since the Stone Age period as many relied on communication signals like fire or drum beating to communicate; however, due to advancements in technology, communication been greatly improved.
