Introduction

The contemporary world is mainly composed of self-centered individuals. My assertion to this claim is primarily based on the fact that the world is predominantly made up of wealth hungry individuals. Lack of contentment with riches is essentially the prime reason for the prevalence of mayhem, conflict, and suffering in society (Rimmer and Dobson 11). Most of the rich people are so obsessed with accruing more wealth that they consider the poor and less fortunate people to be in their ill-fated situations due to laziness. However, this is not always the situation but rather being judgmental. Humanity demands being kind to the poor since they are not children of a lesser god but equally human (Honig 5). The streets of most urban centers and major cities in the world are full of beggars and homeless people. Therefore, as a show of kindness, and with the burden of humanity in my heart, on a certain day, having saved enough money, I resolved to go round some of the streets of the city I live giving food to beggars and the homeless people I came across.

I was not necessarily doing this to gain public attention; instead, I have severally imagined myself living in the cold streets of my city without food and water. Such a life is irrefutably pugnacious and very terrorizing. In the US, though certified statistics indicate that African Americans are less rich compared to white Americans, however, in the streets of most American cities, you will most likely find all races as beggars and street urchins (Honig 10). Hence, poverty in the US is not a black thing, as some have embraced the misleading stereotype. Nobody needs to be rich to be kind, but just having a heart of compassion. It is miserable that it is even the deemed rich people who are very much unwilling to help beggars when approached for help.

The reality is that human life is more precious than animal and pet life (Rimmer and Dobson 15). However, we are living in a society where pets owned by the rich live a life of royalty, whereas thousands of beggars and the homeless people are languishing in the streets of our cities. The day I went out giving food to the homeless and beggars, my heart was broken when I came across an American Afghanistan war veteran, also languishing in the streets as a beggar. The veteran informed me he had lost most of his fortune to his wife during a divorce lawsuit, and the little money he received from the government could not sustain him, thus ending up in the streets. Hence, people ought to erase from their minds the stereotypic perception of beggars and homeless people as being lazy but rather try to find out why they ended up in such unfortunate situations.

On that material day, when I went out giving food to these people, I learned a lesson that I will never forget till my last breath. I came to realize that you do not need to give because you have but rather give because you understand what it means to be in lack. Some of the people I gave food informed me they had gone close to two days without food to the extent that upon seeing me giving them food, they became so emotional and considered that a miracle. The solution to this crisis is very much available just that most people are not kind enough to offer help to these homeless people. Thus, to make the world a better place for everyone, it is of gravitas prerequisite for even the majority wealthy individuals to be kind enough and show companion to these people through the several possible ways (Honig 16).

Conclusion

In conclusion, showing kindness to other people is a very noble act. Nobody loves to be poor, a beggar, or homeless. People ought to desist from the judgmental attitudes and stereotypic perception of the less unfortunate. Instead, let everyone have the burden of helping those in need by showing kindness and compassion. You do not primarily have to offer food to show kindness, but even just taking your time to talk to these people, an act that will melt their hearts with joy, since to a majority of them, they feel isolated and unwanted. Therefore, as a show of kindness, and with the burden of humanity in my heart, after having saved enough money, on a given day, I will once again go round some of the streets of the city I live giving food to beggars and the homeless people I will come across.
