Introduction
Throughout our life, we experience grief situation. The causative agent for grief can relate to relationships, situational or even abuse of the substance. Indeed, children may be in a position to grieve about the divorce of their parent, the husband can grief for the loss of her husband, and likelihood for a teenager to grieve on the end of the relationship. Perhaps, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross come up with grief cycle having five favorite stages, which includes; denial stage, Anger stage, Bargaining stage, Depression stage, and Acceptance stage (Maciejewski, Paul,2017). The essay seeks to shows how Stephen come into the term with death when he lost his mother.
Denial Stage
This is the first stage that Steven would go through, it is likely to help him to survive the loss of his mother. He might find out that at this particular moment of existences, life may seem to make no sense at all, too overwhelming situation, and has no meaning. He will deny the news and effect that would make him numb on the situation. It is most common at this stage for Steven to wonder how will life go on in that state because he is shocked that life is no what use to be and has instantly taken a different direction. In this denial stage, Steven is not in actual reality instead he would prefer to live in his reality. It is this stage would pave way for his grief. It is a defense that he would develop to naturally defend himself from being overwhelmed.
Anger Stage
Anger is the next stage Steven would experience. At this particular moment, he is shifting from preferred reality to the actual reality. It's a common practice that he will start questioning why did it happen to him and would claim life to be unfair on his side. certainly, probabilities are he will start blaming other for the loss of his mother. It's the stage that direct the grief to blame others and it's a natural response since Steven would feel disconnected to reality. However, he should think of anger as strength to bid him with reality thus connecting to people again.
Bargaining
In this stage, Steven may find himself bargain to God to maybe heal back his mother in returns he would offer to stay calm. (Paul, p. 716-723) Though in a way it's a false hope that he would likely to you in the aim to avoid grief. This is a typical response for him to get back the life process he was used to before the grief event. He would be in the position to exchange any major thing for normality to be brought back. It is usually the guilt concept that would make him a bargain.
Depression
It is an acceptable form of grief. It's common that Steven would associate his grief with depression. It is an expression of emptiness that he is likely to experiences when he is at the reality and has in mind that her mother is gone and would never come back. It is the stage that Steven will feel withdrawn from life and feel overwhelmed. The Withdrawal effect would have an adverse effect, but in the long run, will serve a healing process for his loss.
Acceptance
At this stage, Steven has accepted the fact that his mother has died and would never come back again. His emotion is likely to get stabilized and re-enter reality zone. He is now able to come with terms with the new facts that his mother is never coming back. Is time for him to readjust and come into the term of good days and bad days regarding being happy and sad. He can understand her mother will never be replaced buy he has to move on and evolve into the new reality.
Conclusion
These stage forms a building block for any person undergoing grief. In this case, Steven would undergo all this stage from denial to acceptance to heal the grief.
