Introduction
Aesthetics is a theory that concerns beauty, art or a particular branch of philosophy that deals with the study of various topics, for example, romance Century romantic aesthetics (2016). It can be from a layman's perspective be defined as the specific category, for example, a romance, horror or an action based film. One can characterize based on the particular events that occur during the movie. This, therefore, helps a person to identify and be in a position to categorize the specific film.
The film "Hunger 2008" can be categorized as one that is based on real-life events. The reason being that the film is as a result of some protest that had been conducted in Northern Ireland during the period of the 1980s. This was as a result of members of parliament who were demanding for renewal of the political status for each of them, and the British government was not in support of the idea that they were bringing on the table. This resulted in the strikes by the members of parliament including Bobby Sands. The main aim is to gain public support during the political struggle that would bring the attention of many people that would help to support the circumstance that was being faced in Britain. The event resulted due to varying opinions between the British government and the members of parliament. The movie often has three sections.
Therefore looking at the events that led to the development of the story, from the different opinions to the outcome which was happening, the classification of this film would belong to the aesthetic movement of the lifetime based film. This would be drawn as a conclusion relating to the events that occurred before the events that occurred and the outcome and therefore is justifiable. The reason is that first it is concerned with the daily activities of the different citizens of Britain whose leaders are fighting to remain in parliament to be given a chance to continue with the work that was allocated to them by the citizens by electing them to parliament to represent them and their needs. The primary influence being Sands is aware that the strikes will not be of much help to achieve the goal but still goes ahead to fight for what they think will be of help to them.
How a Genre Interacts with Semantic or Syntactic Patterns
Altman (28) explains that when there tend to be two events in a scene that are contradictory or aspects of uncertainty that make it difficult to, therefore, have a distinction of the two generics on the same scene. An example of this occurs from the event where Sands talks to the priest. They are talking about the various events that have occurred, and he tries to bring in the issue of changing his mind regarding the strike. As they speak, the priest comes in with a cigarette that he lights for himself and Sands. Here the events are not at per because usually a priest is not seen as a person who does some actions like the one that has just been portrayed as he visits Sands. One would think that he has come to preach to Sands to change his mind about the strike, but at the same time he brings along a cigarette which in society is seen as not a good actor mainly when a priest portrays the same. Therefore the events in this scene in the film do not concern the expectation of what one would think that the priest would do, but at the same time there is some communication regarding the events, therefore, is essential that a person would expect.
The language used in the scene is also an essential factor that one should consider in the process of analyzing the events. It affects the semantic patterns because in the different scenes the language used will be different for example the different tones and words used to describe the mixed emotions and expression of words that lead to arising of different moments and reactions to bring about the intended outcome of the scene in the film (2019). For example in the movie, for instance, portray an ordinary life's event during the time of breakfast. The mood during which there is no communication which shows that there must be some problem because normally people are normally very jovial as they are having their first meal of the day with the hope that the da will be as good as it began. The events that occur during a particular scene as discussed earlier will help to determine to the foreshadowing of the events that will happen in the scene. For example, when some of the crumbs fall on the lap is like some hint that everything is not right. After that Lohan normally checks the car of explosives, and he after that observes the street and his wife watches him in anxiety this for an ordinary person will help to determine that the society during this particular time is not all that safe for them.
The contradictory aspect of the two events also is where the opponents of the representation are also not happy. Lohan, as he beats the prisoners during a normal working day, is an event that makes a person get torn between whether the event is an evil one. A prisoner being punished as a result of being rebellious in the scenario that Sands is seen even spitting to the face of the officers which one may tend to think that it is wrong to do so to the prisoners. However, in some circumstances, a police officer is entitled to do some little bit of punishment to the prisoners to ensure that they act in a manner that is acceptable to an ordinary person. There arises a scenario of conflicting ideas when a person in custody is being punished which is a legal action that should be imposed on any person who tends to cause a problem when they are required to remain cool and wait for the punishment that should be imposed on them. This is as a result of the first crime that had caused them to be put in prison where there are specific rules including to follow the rule and listen to all that they are required to do and act in the manner acceptable. The prisoners, in this case, are seen to act contrary of the therefore needed for a person who knows, they should not be punished, but some event would be justifiable to a police officer acting in such kind of a manner.
How a Genre Interacts with Cinematographic Events
Careers define the term cinematography in the film (2019) as art that constitutes making some motion in the pictures of a film. The cinematographer is the person who captures the story and all the actors who are in the story. It is not only about recording the events on the location or the sound stage, but it goes beyond that. It is going to the aspect of what the viewers will view. It is in the element of what will a person get or learn after they watch or the information that will unfold after a person has watched a particular film. The visuals will normally have the ability to respond to what they have been watching from the previous scenes. The various elements that are involved in this are the placement of the camera, the movement of the camera, where the camera is focused on, the light required and the composition which also includes the equipment that is needed.
The director may, therefore, use various events to either bring in a new character of the film for example when Sands is waiting for the priest. There are some other aspects that a director can use to pass a message that will convey some meaning or raise the emotions in a particular scene of a film. This normally helps to draw more attention of the viewer on that event to help them to trigger their thinking regarding some hint that is being raised using an emphasis on that particular act by the actors. Cinematography is an important aspect to determine the genre for example in a horror movie the setting is normally a scary one where it is full of darkness and some creepy images put just to create emphasis on that particular genre that is being focused on in the film.
The visual aspects in a film are important because the director emphasizes symbolic details that convey different meanings for example in the film when the character Davey touches the insect through a grating and ten at a later period he tries to catch snow through the same. The visual aspect of this helps to emphasize a man who is in dire need to attain freedom since it was during the time which they had been put in prison. The color of the prison being in bleak colors and the excrement of the persons is tangible to those who are involved in watching the movie. There is a long corridor that the priest walks through that is wet which also indicates that the cleaning process which creates an incredible visual for the events that occur in a prison where people yearn for freedom and what it is like to be in there (Hunger, 2008).
The details in the film make it be termed as one that is a visual narrative. From the sounds that are used in it to the use of music and sounds that are not usual for example the music used in some scenes for instance when a person is being beaten till the point of their death is used to emphasize emotion. The changing of different scenes and colors and events that leads the viewer from the events of one scene to another fresh one to create some suspense. There is also the use of repetition of events and some flashbacks that also are a visual aspect that helps to create some images in the mind of the person watching. The peaceful scenery in the place that there was violence in every corner of the place affected also helps the audience to be aware that the state of peace has been achieved and the place is back to the way that it was supposed to be.
