Introduction

In the film Inside Out, there are several instances of nonverbal communication. Floyd (2011) stated that nonverbal communications are characteristics and behaviors that express meaning without the use of words. The film Inside Out is about a little girl known as Riley and her reactions. Inside the head of Riley, there is an entire novel world. Riley's emotions live in the headquarters, where they assist Riley in getting along with her daily life activities. Sadness, anger, joy, fear, and disgust are the five emotions that govern Riley. In the film, emotions apply numerous nonverbal cues to show how they are feeling - they each present emotion (not only their name conveys). The emotions do not attempt to hide information from each other by concealing their nonverbal hints.

Various forms that nonverbal communication takes place is known as the nonverbal channels (Floyd, 2011). The different sense is applied when understanding nonverbal signals. Usually, one uses the eyes when appreciating nonverbal communication cues; Anger applies, for instance, his facial expression, personal appearance, body language, and gestures. The sense of hearing becomes essential when distinguishing the volume and the tone in the voice of hunger when he becomes agitated and when he is calm. We understand how Riley frames her thoughts before she reacts and communicates them out through the various characters. The movie commences Riley as a child, and Joy appears as the first emotion. Joy is in control of the headquarters until sadness surface, and Riley starts to cry. Symbolic interactions assume that children have no self-concept, and it usually develops through interactions. Riley's parents aid her in developing who she is. They help her to craft the core values known as the core memories displayed on the island of mind. Family, friends, hockey, goofball, and honesty Islands. One significant symbolic interaction is when the Riley parents called her money and chatter like a monkey. Also, Riley imitates the monkey sound, and they end up having the same understanding; this conveys a symbol for their love for each other. Also, Symbolic Interactionism is depicted in the movie as Riley does this communicating in her mind "headquarters."

Riley's emotions deliberate on things and decide on how to react to situations. Riley expresses fear, disgust, and anger when her family relocates to San Francisco. On the first day in the school, Riley reveals the looking-glass self as she doubts about what the pupils will be thinking of her. Riley is requested to introduce herself and speak about Minnesota to the rest of the class. She talks about playing hockey. Suddenly Sadness takes control of the headquarters and causes Riley to start crying in front of her classmates. Fear takes over, and worries about what will the rest of her classmates think of her. Riley is ashamed, and when she gets back home, she was outraged. This causes her to reveal her feelings about what happened during the day by acting in annoyance towards her parents.

Meanwhile, Joy was trying to prevent Sadness from touching the core memories and converting them to the memory of sadness. Suddenly the memories get transported to the stored memories instead of being retained at the headquarters accidentally. Riley's thoughts and emotions are left to be driven by Anger, Fear, and disgust, while Sadness and Joy are gone. Riley gets so much agitated with her condition until she decided to ran away. She wants to go back to Minnesota.
