Introduction
The poem "Praying by Kesha" focus on the act of forgiveness that the persona has on a character he or she was relating to at some point in her life. The character she had a relationship with took off but after hurting her badly and she could have taken it negatively. However, she decided to pray about the matter in an overnight prayer session or prayer without ceasing which was a therapeutic act that lifted her spirits. She says states that she was almost fooled that she could never recover, but her constant prayers got her healed hence rescuing from the predicament. However, she knows that the character she was in her relationship with is somewhere struggling with personal issues and is praying in the act of Kesha hence undergoing the therapeutic process of healing the same way she is undergoing. The poem focuses on the theme of hope and healing has a result of overnight or prolong session of prayer which is described by the word 'prayin' signifying a repetitive process.
Through prayer and Kesha have no scientific or medical explanation, it's an act of faith whereby one believes in divine assistance that is sort after in prayers and supplication. Prayer is the act of connection or expressing oneself to the divine being who in turns answers the presented prayers. While Kesha is the prayers held overnight whereby a person prays in a prolonged manner without ceasing in the act of appeasing God to provide help or assistance to the problems they are undergoing. In this poem, the author receives help for the issues she was going through in the act of forgiveness and concern for her former relationship, and she hopes that the person is doing the same process.
I can relate to the poem since the others undergo the similar issues as what am struggling with, but the way she explains that she went through fire and learned to be strong gives me hope of standing up again and facing my fears. The author gives a chronology of how the partner in her life made her life a living hell, but through the process of prayer, she was bake to be strong and overcome the pressure she was going through. She learned to overcome her fears and troubles and regain control over her personal life. She knows that life is cycle and the partner in her life will face the same issues someday, but she believes that since she overcame her pressure and struggles the partner will master the same problems if he hopes and prays by Kesha.
The poem also opens up to me that every difficult time no matter the intensity, will not last forever but will have an end if we hope, persevere and pray about it. The author explains how her situation was tough on her, but through prayer and supplication, she was able to overcome the hell she went through with victory and regain her footing. This progress contrast the argument or the claim by her partner that she will not make it without him since he knew her weakness was dire and will take more than help to heal. The author through prayer by Kesha underwent a healing process and regained the control over her life and hopes the partner tries the same. These statements give me hope of overcoming my problems which affects my general wellbeing.
