Before looking at the impact of depression on the selected population, it is important to note that three types of depression are unique to women and they occur in different stages of their lives. They include Perinatal Depression, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and perimenopausal Depression.

Although depression can happen to all gender, women are known to suffer twice than men. One of how depression affects women is losing their appetite regularly, and as a result of that, they lose too much weight at one time. The women also do not enjoy the same interest or hobbies that other gender does or even receiving the same pleasure from such activities. They, therefore, feel uncomfortable in the community. Depression also makes the women feel weak and cannot understand the reason for such weaknesses (Cartwright, C., Gibson, K., & Read, J. 2016). Such weakness interferes with their daily duties and would not appreciate being part of the society when staying doing nothing.

In some cases the depression makes women feel guilty and inadequate. Additionally, women would tend to have little hope for the future when they are emotionally depressed. There will be less development in the community particularly that part that is contributed by the women.

Depression in women, therefore, needs to be controlled in the community. The resulting impacts affect the community as women do largely contribute to development in the society. Nursing intervention is one of the controls that can minimize depression among women. Nurses role in treating depression among women is the provision of psychological care. They are in the front line in provided psychological care for depression. Whether a nurse does management of medication or becoming empathetic listeners, they remain unique for the treatment of mental health disorders and particularly depression in women. A higher level of assessment of depressed women causes nurses to take part in informal therapy with these depressed patients. The nurses observe triggers for instance conversation with other patient and attempt to analyze the situation using the de-escalation skills (Keyes, C. L. M., & Goodman, S. H. 2006). The nurses help patients have coping skills for depression and show them ways of dealing with their emotions when they arise.

Also, with nursing intervention, there are suggestions of other different ways that can assist women to cope with depression. Having routine exercise and taking heather diet help to improve the mood of women that make the symptoms of depression less severe in them. If the depression cause stress in women, performing activities that make them feel calm for instance meditation can help to relieve depression symptoms. Additionally, it is apparent that when women allow themselves to be surrounded by healthy people, they easily cope with the symptoms of depression since they receive positive advice from them. Social and family support is crucial for managing and coping with depression among women.
