Introduction
Good mental health essential for both adults and children. Most of the mentally challenged adults had the symptoms of mental illness that were not recognized during their childhood. Early recognition of sign and symptoms facilitate first treatment that prevents long-lasting psychological problems. It is problematic to acknowledge a particular behavior as a sign of mental issues since various actions portrayed by children are associated as part of growing ("NIMH, 2019c). However, if a specific behavior persists abnormally for months or years and affects daily child activities, professional medical advice should be sought. Some of the actions that may raise concern among young children include complains of stomach aches and headaches without any known medical cause, always talk about fears and worries, not interested in play games, or making friends, among others.
Suicide is among the most common mental problem that affects children and adolescent. In the United States alone, more than 47000 people died due to suicide in the year 2017 (NIMH, 2019a). Despite its tragic nature, suicide is preventable only if early warnings are well interpreted. Some of the warning signs that a child or adolescence is suicide include the following; if a child/young adult only talks about death, if the adolescent talks of being guilty and shameful about something, if the person seems to struggle with emotional or physical pain among others. In most cases, the possible suicidal victims' talk or behaviors are associated with death. There are several ways in which victims' lives can be saved (NIMH, 2019a). Asking is one way. Research reveals that asking an individual if they are thinking of ending their lives does not accelerate suicidal thought but instead encourage them to speak up. Secondly, keeping the victims safe by reducing the accessibility of harmful tools discourage their miserable thoughts. Engaging adolescents in talk sessions and staying connected also prevent the situation.
Conclusion
Consequently, treatments and therapies can be applied to at-risk persons of suicide. The treatment and therapy programs differ with gender, physical, and mental healthiness, age, and past experiences of the patients. Brain Stimulation Therapies, Electroconvulsive Therapy, Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS), Repetitive Trans-Cranial Magnetic Stimulation, Magnetic Seizure Therapy (MST) are just a few of the many therapies offered (NIMH, 2019b). However, the treatments have distinct side effects. For instance, MST caused anesthesia and induces brain seizures. VNS leads to vocal changes, sore throats, neck pains, swallowing difficulty, and breathing problems.
