Introduction
The object is traced back to the archaic period between 525 and 500 BC. It is classified as a stone sculpture from the Greek attic culture. The measurements are 25 3/16 x 7 in. (64 x 17.8 cm) and it is a credit to the Rogers Fund. It is a sculpture of two lions mounting on their prey. The connecting piece between one hand of the lion and the bull was found in Athens in 1862 and later taken to the archeological museum within the same place (Hemingway, 2008). The art is among the famous works, and it has allowed artists to introduce a symmetrical composition that is characterized by a violent movement. It is believed to symbolize struggles between modernity and nature and later conflict between Greeks and Centaurs (Hemingway, 2008). It one of the objects in Greece that carries the meaning of how nature and civilized life can be conflicting. It also carries the message of conflicting ideas between two generations. A good example is a struggle between the Greeks and the Centaurs. The centaurs were creatures that were half human on the upper part, and the lower part was that of a horse (Hemingway, 2008). According to Greek mythology, the animals had a constant fight with human beings and the sculpture symbolizes this myth among the Greeks. It shows the conflict between two different times in human life which is civilized life and nature.
Art is something that can be taken for granted but cannot be ignored because of how it speaks volumes about a lot of issue in the past and even in the present. Art conveys meaning to different generations because each one of them is done during a given period and it represents the activities and events of that time (Hemingway, 2008). The object on lion felling a bull, from a marble pediment is a depiction of conflicts in two different times. It is important to note that every period has been represented through diverse architectural designs which carry meaning to different generations.
Contemporary architecture the art of the twenty-first century embraces diversity, and different forms of art are being used. Postmodernism and the most recent technology characterizes it (Hemingway, 2008). The art is done artistic styles, resembling sculpture and done on a large scale. The different forms of dance, however, have the use of advanced technology in common because each artist produces their best through the use of high-tech knowledge. Some of the examples of modern and advanced technology include; tube structure which enables the construction of structures which are taller, stronger but lighter (Hemingway, 2008). Similarly, art is, and this helps in designing three dimension forms of art with precision and quality speed.
The influence of Greek on contemporary cultural patterns is excellent as most of their architectural designs have been imitated. The Greek culture has been adopted throughout the world in various disciplines for instance science, math, philosophy, and literature (Hemingway, 2008). In architecture, the Greek temples were big and beautiful, and their designs have been used in building certain worshipping places for instance in Rome and other parts of the world. Some of the technology borrowed was the use of Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian (Hemingway, 2008). The materials were imitated in the construction of different structures, for instance, political buildings and the commonly used material was marble because it was believed to be representing wealth.
