Introduction
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg is one example of a leader who developed from the assigned position to emergent leader. Through her initial position in the Supreme Court Justice, grew to become the great voice on the bench and other Justices through administrative positions. In the course of her career growth, she obtained three skills approaches that name her to a great leader. These skills are human, technical and conceptual skills. The capabilities enable her to practice transformative authentic, and servant leader in her quest to change US law so that minority group in the US can be treated equally to the majority. However, she faced career challenges that almost denied her the change to engage in a fight against discrimination of the minorities.
Accomplishments of Ginsburg
Despite Ginsburg facing difficulties to obtain a job because of her gender, she finally managed to be employed as a law clerk position in the Supreme Court after she got the recommendation letter from her law professor. Working as her clerk offered her opportunity to grow to a position that enabled her to utter her goal of attaining equality in the US. Her first accomplishment: teaching at Columbia Law made her became the first female to earn tenure. Ginsburg in 1970s directed the Women's Right Project of the American Civil Liberties Union. Finally, on the 10 August 1993, Bill Clinton appointed Ginsburg to the Supreme Court. Her new rank placed Ginsburg a better position that allowed her to fought for equality in gender and sexual placement no the Court. For instance, based to reproductive rights in an interview with The New York Times, Ginsburg state "the basic thing is that the government has no business making that choice for a woman" Levy (2016), transformation and able her to accomplish the achievements she made.
Transformational leadership
Justice Ginsburg was a selfless l leader whose happiness was obtained by placing the needs of others above hers. Majority of her followers were the minorities in the US society. She had an interest in creating equality for all individuals. She used gender-based affirmative action to fight stereotypes of gender roles. Her interest in the minority pushed her into desiring to transform the Supreme Court by including more women and more of color by changing the white and the male quo in the judicial system. Through the seventies talking about desiring to be considered on the ground of merit and not because of her gender, she managed to express confidence and articulate goals that she wished to attain, formulate the basis of a charismatic leader (Klein, 2016). This made her be a leader to other justices through her substantial influence. The always-urged fellows judge to develop a view outside their world. However, she faced criticism because things she perceived to be favored by women were used as against them.
Authentic leadership
An authentic leadership emphasis on determining whether leadership is genuine and the leader is trustworthy. According to Leroy (2015), there are four constituents of authentic leaders. Self-awareness, affected moral perspective, composed processing, interpersonal transparency are the crucial elements. They are demonstrated in a leader during critical life happenings (Leroy et al. 2015). Ginsburg reflects this kind of leadership by having a clear goal, developing a strong argument that supported her claims, and, the ability for refused being interfered. For instance, when she refused to apologize for her writing and she was nicknamed RNB because of her firm personality.
Conclusion
Ginsburg desire for equality not only made her to achieved greatness but it also helped her overcome challenges she faced in her career life to become a great leader. She struggle until she rose through judicial chain to have a better influential power on the Supreme Court and all the positions she occupied, hence, managing to represent fully the voice of the minorities in the US community.
