He was the leader of a boys' choir from his school. His status in the choir being the leader shows that he was from a wealthy family (George 174). It can be drawn from his position in the choir, which was part of an illustrious private school. His parents wanted to obtain the social advantages that come with schooling children in a private school. Jack's performance in school was excellent, allowing him to be part of the school choir. Jack's hobby was mainly singing, which made him a member and leader of the choir group. He also loved to be in power, which made him the leader of the choir group.

The reason why jack is referred for evaluation of his physical conditions is because of changes in his behaviour. At home, jack expressed anger to his parents and talked disrespectfully to them something he did not do before being stranded on the Island. He was also irritated by minor things such as noise that didn't bother him before. He criticized his parents and blamed them for his experience on the Island. At school, he was violent to other children. These changes show that jack should be referred for evaluation. His parents make the recommendation after seeing how he had changed after the island experience after the British naval officer rescued them.

During the psychological evaluation session with Jack, several things occurred. First, jack was allowed to share what was happening in his life during and after leaving the Island. He was allowed to say the things that were bothering him and the things that he would like to achieve from the sessions. During the meeting, the therapist listened and took notes on what jack was saying. During the course, Jack was not interrupted, criticized or judged about the things he said. Jack was also given homework at the end of the meeting to release his emotions. He was expected to share his progress in the next session and address the areas he felt frustrating.

The diagnosis after the sessions indicated that Jack was suffering from low self-esteem and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In the Island, he was far from his parents which made him feel like he was not loved. Self-esteem is all about one's capabilities while still feeling loved. Without his parents around the Island, it was not possible for Jack to feel loved in the Island. His failure to catch a pig and kill it may also have affected his self-esteem. It made him think that he let down his group as he could not provide food for them as the leader. Self-esteem is drastically affected by a failure in children. The plane crash may have caused PTSD. Re-experiencing symptoms, hyperarousal symptoms and avoidance symptoms also indicate he is suffering from PTSD. He was also easily irritable and showed anger outbursts. The recommendation for this is jack to deal with his dysfunctional thinking the negative thoughts of how he failed to kill the pigs should not bother him. The advice for PTSD is for jack to undergo cognitive processing therapy that will enable him to have self-guided cognitive restructuring (Pyszczynski 289). It will make him feel safe and have more balanced thoughts.
