Introduction

I would be among many in the ship, people of all classes, all with plenty of hope that their American dream would be fulfilled. As an immigrant, there is a struggle through hard times whatsoever we would strive and be determined to make life better for ourselves. It would not be a walk in the park. We would be determined to live the American dream, and this means doing the work to accomplish the dream. In the ship, I would be occupying the low-class section; this would be placed at the far bottom, and the bad smell would be evident. Sickness would be a common thing, and some people would pass away as we would continue with the journey. Death smell would be too much(II, 2020). It would come any time basing on the condition experienced in this occupation section. We would struggle to breathe; the wretched smell would be all over. I would hope it would not take long, and we would be free and leave these uncomfortable conditions.

Despite some regrets, leaving Russia would be for my best interest, it was home to me and where my family lived. Prosecutions would still be undergoing due to being Semitism, so I would encourage myself, leaving my home in a way also makes me evade prosecution. Government sanctions on anti-Semitism were in force, and they would destroy our properties and the little we had. To me, America would be a place where people are free to exercise any religion and be engaged in any occupation. Education and great opportunities to succeed would make the journey worth it, and we would be very hopeful. Hardships at home and the prospects in the United States would be enough to make me leave whatever I possessed and start a new life in a region with different cultures and with people using different languages (Kuznets, 2017). Most of us wouldn't wish to be immigrants forever but had hopes of acquiring some wealth and become financially stable. In the process, American history would be shaped through effects brought about by immigrants on the economy and culture.

The ship would take a few days to port, and I would plan to stay with new people through whom I would learn and locate my new ways in the city. Throughout the period, all that I would expect would be a beautiful sight. I would not be sure about what was waiting for me on the other side. However, on the ship, there would be liberty as well as a sense of freedom. Besides, there would be a diverse influx of other immigrants in the United States. They would have all arrived from both Western and Northern European countries. The main aim of all these would be to seek new homes, that would be valid as the places they had come from.

Working in the newsstands, dry- cleaning stores, machine shops, and grocery stores would have attracted me and other immigrants as well as work as a first step in improving the economic journey (Kvidera, 2002). It would be great for people to operate these jobs, thus making the sparsely populated states in the country would work actively in promoting immigration. Through these, the states would offer land grants as well as guaranteed jobs for the newcomers. Therefore, the immigrants from the period between 1870 to 1920 would have made the economic growth in America to increase as a global power (Kvidera, 2002). Nevertheless, the newcomers in the country would also face unjust persecution from nativists who may require help from the government to suppress further immigration.
