Introduction
In the modern era, there has risen a global issue of human trafficking in relation to globalization of the economy. Trafficking has become an act whereby women and children are trafficked in undeveloped countries (Hepburn, 2010). The main purpose of human trafficking has been stated to only have benefit by individualized personnel that is Hunt, Logan and Walker. To start with the leading benefit of human trafficking on the trafficker's side is that there are always maximum gains by traffickers through profits from victims' labor (Hepburn, 2010). This gives human traffickers a crucial benefit of high attractive benefiting business because low risks and high payoffs. Trafficker's primary goals is profit maximization which often result in mental and physical exploitation of victims.
"All persons held as slaves ... are and henceforth free", the orders given by president Lincoln's liberation announcements made public on 22nd September 1862 (Hepburn, 2010). Though the declaration was issued to free a few individuals held in captivity, the decree has served as a memorial for those who opt to consider the past to define events. According to the United States believes that human slavery is no longer in existence (Hepburn, 2010). This can be negated following the current happenings in most areas. Human trafficking appears to be an as everyday business across the American border. Most of the individuals at high risk of being victims of illegal activity are the ladies, especially the youth girls who end up being involved in Sex business (Hepburn, 2010). The paper tries to investigate various topics included, such as the role of social workers in helping sex survivors.
Factors Affecting Sex Trafficking
The various factors contributing to human trafficking are diverse in nature depending on the country. Sex trafficking is a complicated scenario influenced by, cultural, economic, social and other factors (Kotrla, 2010). Some of the factors are known to the trafficker's history of trafficking as well as the various states in which they take place. Some of the factors are local issues such as insecurity, unequal distribution of social and economic activities, and lack of human rights, oppression, and poverty. The existence of social imbalance between countries causes immigration into wealthy countries (Kotrla, 2010). The rapid growth of developed countries promotes sex trafficking across the USA borders from neighboring countries. Factors such as political war, civil wars, and other related factors act as a push factor towards sex trafficking. This results due to massive human displacement associated with such factors. Women and young girls become vulnerable hence easily become sex victims (Kotrla, 2010). Puling factors such as wealth and social class attract more traffickers to engage in the sex trafficking business.
Sex Trafficking Demand
Three pillars of sex trafficking exist globally, these include traffickers (sellers), johns (consumers) and the victims (products). As economics suggests, products are among the most crucial thing in market survival. Without service demand, no market would exist for trafficking sex workers. Demand acts as a push factor in the illegal sex trafficking business (Kotrla, 2010). Demand in sex trafficking results predominantly from men though both genders are involved. Men are the core source of demand as they seek on purchasing sexual entertainment. Most sex workers are subject to fraud, force or even the teenage being involved in commercial sex (Kotrla, 2010). Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) released in 2000. The sex demand publication cause sex trade all over the world.
The Functions of Demand in Sex Trafficking
The sex trafficking of the individual is triggered by the need for the menu of commercial sex actions they are required "package" and how they are performed (Clawson, 2006). Traffickers transfer victim-products market, helping and facilitating other actors in a myriad of means. As the demand rise, traffickers are supposed to increase the supply of targets (Clawson, 2006). The buyers in the market points see the victims as a desensitized product for an immediately feedings and disposal. If buyers were not in need of finding a commercial sexual amenity, then definitely the trafficking will stop to be a profitable venture. Much more like a genuine market, demand, and supply for commercial sexual are connected (Clawson, 2006). The supply of children and women in the sex industry acts as the fuel for this lawful slavery trading and must rise to meet the required development for sexual services throughout the globe. Demand distresses the market system and the kind of goods made available.
Evidence shows that the rapid increase of the younger growing generation, signing feedback to the buyers' opinions the younger affected person is both vulnerable and healthier. This need for sex with the fresher girls has to turn out to a wide number of juveniles misused through prostitution around the world - per sex act trafficking persons under the U.N Conventions and the United States federal trafficking law. Commercial sex is an extremely elastic product. In organization terms, these ways that if the price of the service or object rises, the customer demand will increase. By enriching risk to traffickers, the price of the services will be increased thus providing a resultant decrease demand and also a diminishing profit. The profit will be also being lowered if heavy charges and seizure of properties are imposed on condemned trafficker.
Study Plan
The study covers the various social worker's contribution to human trafficking using a qualitative research methodology (Kotrla, 2010). The study is based on exploring 15 interview questions to the social workers, which criteria do the social workers use to identify their clients. Qualitative research on this hypothesis will be used to gain a closer understanding of how social workers' knowledge and perception of how they get to know their clients. Qualitative research focuses on data collection over a large population (Kotrla, 2010). Several methods of data collection, including; survey, interview questions, questionnaires, and other related methodologies can be used to collect data. For the case of this particular study, the primary methods we used was, interviewing, questionnaire, and carrying out surveys (Kotrla, 2010). The poll was designed to cover on demographic elements such as education level (nominal), social worker experience level (interval), ethnicity (nominal), gender (theoretical), and age (symbolic).
The survey consisted of 15 questions in which a social worker could be identified, and their perception and their recommendation on sex trafficking would be filled. The study was designed in precise and straightforward questions. To avoid ambiguity, the subjects had a simple structure. The questionnaire questions consisted of yes or no to create awareness to the social workers and increase their willingness to participate in the exercise.
Using a Quantitative Study With the Snowball
According to the information collected from interviewing social workers, including Dr. Nan Palmer, professor of social work, who has been working in this field for the last 40 years. I have been able to compose this qualitative research paper (Chuang, 2005). Palmer conducts pioneering research on adult and children survivors of the sexual trauma. She has been teaching innovative courses in clinical practices with the survivors giving a comprehensive healing guide on the wound (Chuang, 2005). Professor Dr. Nan Palmer has published various topics to be covered in traffickings such as co-authored redefined families, resiliency, trauma, victim assistance services, sexual assault, and family violence. Our primary focus is on government intervention in social workers activity on helping the sex victim, how human trafficking is carried out within various countries (Chuang, 2005).
Analysis of Human Trafficking
Bradley Myles suggests that, with the Polaris Project, human trafficking has become a severe problem in the United States (Clawson, 2006). He continues to add that; humans are trafficked across the American borders for purposes such as sexual exploitation, i.e., forced prostitution or labor exploitation as sweatshops, domestic servitude and later the victims are led to subjections such as abuse, fraud, coercion and another related form of deception on the traffickers' part. Focusing on women and girls, though an assumption is made that males and transgender are considered victims of domestic sex trafficking, their contribution is deliberately ignored (Clawson, 2006). Prostitution has been the center of the chaotic regime. Human trafficking has been defined differently from the case of coercion placement to legal distinctions. By extending the boundaries on constitutional grounds, practices, laws, and policies, hold that humans who have undergone "terrorizing physical and sexual violence and ... multiple layers of trauma, including psychological damage from captivity and fear of reprisals if escape is contemplated, brainwashing, and for other family or communal violence." The seriousness of addressing the source and the outcomes of human trafficking is difficult to figure out (Clawson, 2006).
Professional social workers contribute to giving comprehensive answers to the underlying reasons. Though there are several profession concerns on individual well-being on social grounds, a social worker must focus on the situations of anot6her person and the environment that distinguish the social work on helping the victims. Social work intervention is on human rights and focuses on social justice (Clawson, 2006).
Study Limitations
The study was qualitative research aimed at realizing the contribution of social workers in identifying their input in assisting the sex trafficking survivors. The results from the various study methodologies showed consistency and had minimal errors. The sample size was large and having shown closely related data w2e conclude that the study was done well. The questionnaires were sent via emails and others delivered to our participants using physical means; this only needed a very little capital hence economical. For confirmation purposes of the data collected, interview questions were developed, and the comparison of the two outcomes reflected the same conclusion.
Services Offered to Victims
According to the research findings obtained by interviewing social workers on the services provided to Pre-Certified Victims, we found that social workers facilitate various essential services to those affected. The social workers facilitate access to services by victims. Firstly, the help the victims get access to food such as soup kitchens, faith-based food programs, help them gain access to shelter. Most faith-based programs donate money for rental purposes or identify members of the church who have capabilities of offering temporary housing to the victims. The state and local housing projects, as well as community development projects, provide a list of affordable housing totally with the non-profit organization plans. They also offer medical services to the victims through, community hospitals, free clinics within the communities, homeless clinics, city clinics, health clinics.
Social support - all the social workers involved were offering a support program. Giving social support to the victims helped them recover and enjoy a healthy life by assisting them to recover from trauma and enjoy an interactive experience outside human trafficking (Kotrla, 2010). One of the residential facilities chose a graduate to come up with a peer mentorship program that will help the participants to generate lifetime friendship in the provision of long-term support - training progr...
