Brown describes design thinking as a human-centered approach. What do you think this means? Try to give an example or provide a detailed description that supports your explanation.
Design thinking is an attempt to solve a complex problem that exploits the ability of the designer thinking capacity to have some knowledge about the unclear need of the people and finding opportunities to provide a solution. Design thinking according to Brown (2008) is "a methodology that imbues the full spectrum of innovation activities with a human-centered design ethos." An example where design thinking approach applies is when innovating products and services in firms to meet the diverse needs of the people. Proper engagement of design thinking in any business entity delivers a fulfilling experience to those that need the services and goods to save their situations.
What (according to Brown) is the role of prototyping in the design process? Describe in your own words.
During the production of goods and services of any organization, creating a prototype is very critical as according to Brown's sentiments. Prototyping has a crucial role in ensuring that firms still produce quality and original products that aim at assisting consumers in meeting their wants. (Kolarevic, & Klinger, 2013) Some roles of prototyping include enabling testing and evaluation of designs. By developing a prototype, a firm is in a position to compare their ideal type to ascertain which aspects are essential. Other roles of prototyping are; providing clarity about the cost of production of the commodity, selling the products to other users and determining the patency of the product.
Choose two of the that Brown identifies and give an example of how you have applied each of these characteristics in a specific situation in your own life:
Characteristic A
The focus is on real conditions and data-oriented which is a method of identifying what the people need at the time as per the indications of data obtained through researches and surveys to address the needs. An example of this characteristic in use is sizing of the target market, speculate about the number of people who have an interest in their products. (Efeoglu et al., 2013).
Characteristic B
Designed thinking is people oriented. This aspect of designed thought revolves around meeting the needs of the people by formulating a plan to address the challenges. An example is coming up with new products in a company after observing that the target market has had suffering due to the lack of such a product. (Efeoglu et al., 2013).

This reading was and has given me a chance to learn. The experience was good as I did not encounter any challenges in getting the content of the text. I have learned that I can also apply design thinking in my day-to-day life. One of the things I learned from Brown's article is that "many people outside professional design have a natural aptitude for design thinking, which the right development and experiences can unlock."(p.3). Brown goes ahead to describe the characteristics of design thinkers, and one I find interesting is that of an optimistic, he says "They assume that no matter how challenging the constraints of a given problem, at least one potential solution is better than the existing alternatives." (Brown, 2008).
