Written communication. Using an external and internal newsletter, bulletin boards, email and posters to communicate to the patients about the healthcare safety and quality
Non-verbal communication. The plan will involve face to face talks through conducting speeches, presentation group meetings, education, and training forums to the stakeholders and team members of the project.
Active listening. Listening to the concerns of the patients to promote quality and safety healthcare.
Events That Will Trigger the Need to Communicate
Yes, numerous events could trigger the necessity for communication, such as inadequate information, thus developing confusion in the message conveyed. If an individual participates in a new project, he will experience unclear details about the project; therefore, the person has to use the visual or verbal method of communication to get precise information about the project (Torppa & Smith, 2011). Also, if a nurse or a doctor wants to brief the patient about his/her medical situation, they will use the same form of communication to make the patient understand the condition or procedure.
Repercussions for Poor Communications
Poor communication repercussions between other health care providers and nurses can have a substantial negative impact on patient quality and safety, patient outcome, and poor reputation of the management or institute. The prognosis of the patient will be unfortunate if the communication is ineffective as patient outcome relies upon teamwork; thus, communication gap will result in poor cooperation. Also, patient satisfaction is necessary for the hospital and staff; hence ineffective communication will lead to little gratification in the care and safety of a patient. In this case, creating a proper communication environment for excellent patient, management, and staff will lead to substantial patient safety and quality.
