Since December 2019, the world was invaded by COVID 19 pandemic which has impacted operations in several economic sectors such as education, transport, tourism, manufacturing to mention a few. Various governments and non-governmental bodies have dedicated their effort as much as the can to ensure the pandemic is controlled. However, despite the effort put in place by these parties, the situation still lacks too far to be controlled. Thus, COVID 19 control being the responsibility of every person to contribute where possible, I have also felt being passioned to come up with a nonprofit group known as “Protect The Learners PTL” whose purpose is to provide COVID 19 screenings for the schools. The “PTL” nonprofit group mission is “to keep the school learners safe from the spread of the Pandemic through fully-equipped screening for temperature”. Further, the vision of “PTL” is to have 100% COVID 19 screening in all schools within the areas of our operation.”

Level of Preparedness

Considering the level of preparedness put in place by various government and non-governmental associations across different economic sectors of the world, as a PTL we have established that the region of Saharan and sub-Saharan Africa countries as the best target for our services. The region is far much back in development as well as very prone to diseases. Moreover, the region being composed of mainly the third world countries, some crucial sectors such as education are not that much stable to cope with threatening situations such as the pandemics. Further, the region being poorly developed, very minimal progress has been put in place in the education sector, a condition that has left schools being densely populated. With such conditions being experienced in schools, the spread of diseases such as COVID 19 would be very deadly in case it enters into schools that are poorly equipped in the region. Thus as a PTL nonprofit group, we found the Saharan and sub-Saharan Africa region as the best to go and serve.

COVID 19 Screening

Based on our group’s agreement regarding our temperature/COVID 19 screening in schools within the Saharan and sub-Saharan African region, as a non-profit “PTL” organization, we have agreed to full screening COVID 19 screening services in both primary and secondary schools in the region. In the list of “PTL”, the group has decided to donate to various programs such as equipping all the schools with sufficient temperature measurement guns whereby each class will be considered to have two temperature guns. Moreover, “PTL” as agreed to purchase personal protective equipment for both the screening officials and bulk of facemasks to be used by the learners. Also, the nonprofit group has agreed to hire one medical officer for each school in the region who will be responsible for questioning the learners who may register high temperatures that the standard required.

Conclusion

The medical officers will also be conducting COVID 19 tests on the individuals to determine their safety. Moreover, since most of the schools are in arid areas where water is a major problem, the PTL group has agreed to sponsor the drilling of a maximum of four boreholes in the Saharan and sub-Saharan countries faced with the issue of water shortage. This agreement was breached to allow the washing of hands among the learners in schools. Thus, it is through such agreements implementation as a “PTL” nonprofit group that we believe we would achieve our mission and vision.
