Communication technology has a profound impact on how people communicate in society. Internet and mobile technology have changed how people communicate with each other regardless of the distance apart. Sending text messages, emails social networks, televisions, and the computer has made communication easier thereby reducing the need for face-to-face communication (Jandt, 2017).
Technological advancement has also contributed to the ease by which people carry out their works. Employees, for instance, are in a position to communicate with ease and effectively while at home or far away from working desks. Technology in the places of work has allowed organizations to carry out their business with ease hence making them expand more quickly and operate efficiently. Communication has enabled the companies to track their resources at any given time and know where their employees in the marketing field are. This enhances transparency and accountability thereby bringing more returns to the companies. It has also brought about high customer services and satisfaction as they are attended to quickly and effectively. The various business currently have a phone and video conferencing, emails, and various social sites for networking for helping with the expansion of businesses and allowing for significant advancement in the performance of the businesses (Navimipour & Soltani, 2016).
Despite the numerous benefits brought about by communication technologies, there are some disadvantages associated with it. For instance, Communication technology has led to the weakening of bonds of communication in society. Communication between children and their parents is affected due to lack of ample time to bring the families together. Before the advancement of technology, families used to have a gathering where they would talk and socialize. Today computers and televisions are replacing the time families used to have. Studies have indicated that when TV is switched on, parents and children become less oriented towards each other, they do not talk more and have less facial expressions which are positive as compared to when TV is switched off. Additionally, the internet has also affected how couples interact and relate to one another. Compared to the period before technological advancement, couples are nowadays meeting online in various dating sites (Dutta, Geige&Lanvin, 2015).
Conclusion
In conclusion, communication technology has have had a vast impact on the way the society in general communicates and how individuals relate to each other within the society. It has enhanced the connectivity of people globally and at the same time contributing to the weakening links between family members and friends all together. It is therefore evident that communication technology has brought about the immense impact on how people live and at the same time disadvantageous. However, the positive impacts of communication technology outweigh the negatives hence pointing out the need to continue with technological advancement to make the life of the society easier.
