Non-believers have continued to increase in the modern world. The world seems to be caught up in the drama of atheistic humanism, A view that propagates the idea that the world is self-explanatory without any need or recourse to God. The church must arise and be a voice to evangelize to such human beings as they need the gospel of truth.
Evangelism must also be directed to those who are non-practicing Christians. This is a group of people who were Christians previously and now believe they know it all but no longer believe in it. They pose a significant challenge to evangelism. I would encourage parishioners to come up with new means or methods to be able to reach such groups of people. It involves re-representing the gospel of the revelation of Christ in a new way.
The church must also make efforts to spread the gospel to the multitudes as Christ pitied the multitudes. Further small communities 'communates de base' must be unique beneficiaries of evangelism. Such groups may be brought together by age, profession, culture, local state among others. Sometimes such communities cut themselves away from the larger congregations and at times become very opposed to the church. Such communities should form forums of evangelization by the church to ensure they remain true to the faith and to avoid the danger of them isolating themselves and believing to be the only authentic church of Christ which in turn brings disunity in the church.
In summary, parishioners should understand that the role of evangelism rests on ever believer young and old. The gospel should be preached to different groups of people in the mode and method appropriate to them. To believers, the gospel is to encourage and build the faith, whereas to unbelievers, persons of different religions and multitudes, it is to bring the individuals to faith by presenting them with the revelation of the truth in Christ through the word.
