Introduction

One of the area of thought that has been a point of reflection for the Catholics is creating an ethical environment, that is in both the secular arenas as well as the Catholic churches. The thoughts have been as well perpetrated by the environmental disaster that occurred in the 1970s and 1980s, which left the environmental degradation, which was alarming. The Catholics have in this manner been able to make the environmental concern and moral thought. This has resulted in the Catholics introducing environmental ethics theology that would help in enhancing the moral development of the situation and everyone in it. Creation proclaims the glory of God is a principle on the environment that directly links the environment and God's creation (Brady, 2017). This principle epitomizes that whatever was created depicting the greatness of God and therefore a reason to protect the environment. As we protect the environments, we defend God's work. This environment principle is essential in protecting the environment since it helps us to understand that every creature in the environment is unique and needs to be treated with the utmost care. For instance, cutting down trees is the destruction of God's creation and therefore needs to be stopped as a way of protecting the environment.

Anthropological Positions to Ecology

Based on the reading, there are various perspectives of culture that influence our ecology. The most convincing position is how we are the stewards of the earth and fulfill human needs. These perspectives observe how humans have a duty to ensure that we have control over the world by protecting, preserving, and conserving the ecosystem. These adaptations help people to establish various approaches to respond to their environmental problems. For example, it is a culture that forests are significant in the creation of rainfall. People must work towards protecting and conserving all natural and human-made forests to ensure a healthy natural replenishment (Brady, 2017). According to the reading of chapter 10, humans have a duty to accomplish the purpose of God's creation to manifest His Glory. Wildlife, climate, and technology are all in the hands of man. Therefore, it is God's wish to see a naturally balanced ecosystem under the stewardship of humans. As believers in God's creation, man must use technology responsibly to empower other God's Creations. That is why we must work hard to ensure that we leave the world a better place than we found it. If we fail to accomplish the intentions of God, our generations to come may not find a place to live.

Pope John Paul II Links the Ecological Crisis with other Moral Issues

Pope John Paul II observes that other moral issues contribute to the ecological crisis. According to the Pope, a lack of respect for human life has been the primary motive that causes our environmental problems. Many countries around the world are now concerned with nuclear weapons that release harmful exhausts into the atmosphere to cause environmental harm. Pope also observes greed and selfishness in both individual and collective levels. Human desire has led to industrialization which also releases toxic carbons into the atmosphere to cause the environmental crisis. Rural poverty and inequitable distribution of land resources also leads to unhealthy human activities that undermine our environment (Brady, 2017). The poor people are left in rural areas destroying forests, rivers, and other natural resources for their survival. I want to agree with the Pope over these moral malpractices as critical causes of the ecological crisis. If a man shunned greed and selfishness, the world would be a better place to live in. People also need to stop the blatant disrespect for the sanctity of life and empower others. That will serve Gods glory as humans were meant to be the stewards of the earth.
