The spiritual practice I adopted was meditation, which entailed dedicating sufficient time to my spirituality. Some aspects of my devoutness had lost direction with business taking much time and lacking patience in various areas of my life. I set my morning hours in the study room for meditation, where I would reflect on God's doing in my life and read bible verses. Besides, I brought together the materials I needed to the study to ensure the meditation sessions would be free from disturbances, and in turn, promote adherence to the practice.
Most elements of the practice went significantly well. The morning hours had no disruptions, which enhanced my focus on prayer and the verses I had selected. Besides, those hours proved valuable as my mind was fresh and thus stuck to the session without deviating. My thoughts were apparent during the period, which enabled me to communicate closely with God, open my heart and mind to the Holy Spirit, and therefore hear what God was telling me.
However, some aspects went poorly on several occasions. There were days I could wake up late and had to rush hence forcing me to postpone the meditation sessions. On a few instances, friends came over and the morning was therefore filled with disruptions making it challenging to have the sittings as planned. Moreover, some days had many plans in them, and the mind could not focus on prayer and reflection. Nevertheless, I always ensured I made up for any day that I missed the session as earlier planned.
I accrued several benefits from the meditation sessions. I became closer to God and gained increased sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. I could now hear what God was saying and His intentions for my life. Besides, my mind was transformed, and I realized the benefits of setting ample time for my spirituality. The sessions also proved valuable in increasing my faith, and I have since become more patient in waiting upon God's goodness. Moreover, meditation created an aura of peace. Subsequently, I had less worry, anxiety, and stress handling different aspects of my life.
From the meditation, I learnt that God is merciful and kind. The verses I read showed how God listened to the cries of his people and answered them in His best time. They also presented different acts of mercy, such as giving the Israelites food and water in the desert when they complained in the desert. His acts of kindness were evident, mainly through sending His only son to die for our sins. Also, I realized that my impatience was due to a lack of trust in God. This knowledge led me to devise ways through which I would grow more patient and be thankful to God for everything. Moreover, I learnt that one should be cautious of who they relate with to avoid being driven away from spirituality. The company that one keeps determines their closeness to God.
Conclusion
I plan to continue this spiritual practice and dedicate more time to it. I have realized many benefits both in my life and in enhancing my spirituality. The bible is diverse, and each day of reading gives a new understanding of God's purpose for our lives; hence I will keep on reading. Conversely, I have grown calmer since I began the practice which has made my life more peaceful and fulfilling. Therefore, there are many benefits I will reap from continuing with my meditation routine.
