Management of operations is comprised of resources management to produce and deliver goods and services. Operations management covers the entire path of how goods move from suppliers to consumers. Operations of the supply chain include the organization, formations, and procedures to design and carry out the movement of goods and services from distributors to consumers. Activities of supply chain management govern the general structure of how businesses organize, generate, acquire, and attain products. These operations also involve observing, looking after and upgrading a vast stretch of natural and collective processes. All these operations that are included from suppliers to consumers constitute almost 50% of an organization's budget.

Every day, a company or an organization makes many operational decisions concerning the supply chain. These decisions affect how the development and manufacture of products are done. One of the elements a company should consider when looking into operations of supply chain management is consumer relationships. Consumer relationships are an aspect that an organization should keenly consider. For an organization to attract many customers, it requires to create a strong relationship with every person or firm it partners within the business. Communication and trust are the foundations of any form of contact.

Concerning communication, distributors have to be transparent with every data that may, in any way, affect the customer. Regarding trust, the consumer should be optimistic that the distributor will see through to the termination of the deal. Management of customer relationship interweaves with supply chain management in two vital methods; updating the consumer regularly regarding their order standings and making sure the customer gets their order just as anticipated. Management of customer service is another element of operations. The management of customer service defines how a team will improve communication and information delivery between the group and consumers. It also enhances the general processes to keep away from issues of operations and technical hitches.

In organizing a supply chain master plan, forecasting of demand is an important aspect to consider. Planning and management of demand and optimization of inventories are necessities for most businesses. Developing a structured procedure for forecasting aids businesses in several ways. One of them is that it helps companies manage network distribution effectively. The other way is scaling up and expanding into brand new markets. These ways promote efficiency in the supply chain, elevated sales, and upgrading satisfaction of customers.

Fulfillment and management of orders is also another element of operations in supply chain management. They are a significant part of triumphant chains of supply for both small and big businesses. The prompt fulfillment of orders centers mostly on the use of technology. The automation of eCommerce has helped customers place their orders just by touching a button with no need of guidance through the procedure. For instance, when there is no strategic procedure in place for the process of fulfillment, one may end up getting out of the budget. Additionally, one may elevate the risk of order fulfillment altogether.

Another operation element is the management of manufacturing flow. The control of building flow refers to the methods involved in making sure the making of goods takes place profitably and economically. Management of manufacturing flow entails knowing the cost and amount of a product to be produced at a specified period. Thus, there will be the creation of enough products to avoid spoilage and inventory space wastage. Appropriate management of manufacturing flow reduces the ability for stock-outs as a result of small orders on the company's side.

The development and commercialization of products is an element of operations in the management of the supply chain. The main reason why people sell products is that they already have target customers. More specifically, customers need a product that gives the same value as the one being sold has. The needs of a customer may vary in different ways, and it is up to the seller or company to manufacture products that cater to the various requirements. In so doing, companies may alter their products or even change their brands, packaging styles, or materials and providing discounts. (Holmstrom et al., 2019).


For any business, the chain of supply entails every detail from obtaining materials from a distributor to transferring a final good to the consumer. Owners of companies are not mostly involved in the daily operations, and to keep up with efficiency throughout the process of the supply chain, organizations ought to center on control of inventories. Since inventories are costly and essential to a business, tracking it is an obvious requirement. Control of lists should come first in fine-tuning processes of supply chain management. Some of the importance of keeping an inventory is; it aids in balancing the ratio of inventory change. The value of products sold divided by inventory means one of the vital measures for successful management in warehousing and the ratio of inventory change. Another importance of inventories is that it helps in improving customer services.


Daily operations are building blocks of the tasks performed by manufacturers. The details of regular services done by a company are located in the element of supply chain management, operations. Operations of the supply chain develop the output of a company to make sure everything is proceeding according to the plan, and the gains are high. A company's inventory is mainly viewed by operations of supply chain management. Generally, production in a company is overseen by services. Supply chain management provides a variety of career opportunities. Many opportunities are, however, in the field of manufacturing as it is the widest and sophisticated of operations. One of the possibilities is becoming a production manager. (Flothmann et al., 2017). I would consider taking the role of a production manager because I would be the one overseeing the whole processes taking place in the manufacturing plant.
