The research question for the research topic is how gender affects short term memory. One of the methodologies that will be used to answer this research question is interviewing technique. The interviewing technique involves the respondents being asked questions physically, and then they are expected to respond (Merriam & Grenier, 2019). In this research study, the sample size that has been selected will be asked a series of questions concerning their memory and how quickly they remember some things.

Several steps are involved when planning and then conducting qualitative research. The first step is the investigator should decide on the topic of study. In this case, the topic of research has been identified which is to determine how gender is related to short term memory among various people (Silverman, 2016). The second step is to conduct a literature review which involves looking at the past studies that have been accomplished on the same topic or related to the research question. The third step is to identify whether qualitative research is the most appropriate for the topic of study (Silverman, 2016). In this case, qualitative research is essential in the sense that it will help to discover some of the reasons that cause short term memory concerning the gender of a person. The next step is to consider the sample size that has been selected for the research. The sample size used for qualitative research should not be large or else the process will be tiresome. Therefore, the sample size of forty that has been selected to be used for this study is enough to provide the information required. The last step when planning qualitative research is to select the best qualitative research methodology (Silverman, 2016). As mentioned earlier, the research methodology is an approach that will be employed to collect data that is required to accomplish the research. Interviewing is the best approach that can be used to collect data for this research. This method will bring the interviewer and the respondents together. The respondents will answer the questions that have been posted by the interviewer (Glesne, 2016). Also, this method provides an opportunity to ask more questions and seek clarification on specific issues.

Conclusion

Concluding, the rationale for using qualitative analysis is because the method is appropriate and it will help to identify the reasons why memory loss is related to gender, Furthermore, this method is essential in that it allows the research to go deeper and ask more questions regarding the topic of study.
