The following is a comparison of two versions of the same film produced at different times. The first version is the original make, while the second production is a remake of the first production. Some changes were made from the script and the overall climate in terms of the area of production that brought the differences in the two movies. The changes in the film happened throughout the film to the extent of creating an impression as if as its not the same film.
Pet Sematary original produced in 1989 presents the themes of death and cheating about death. The film is about the death of a pet and teaches the children the afterlife of the pet (Zachary). Through this film, children are taught how to handle both physical and psychological trauma. The film also reveals the resentment that comes with caring for people in the deathbed as well as the grief as a result of losing someone that you love. The desire to bring loved ones back to life at any cost is also revealed in the film. The original version of the film effectively revealed all these aspects.
Pet Sematary 2019 film writing is exceptional as compared to the original version. The purpose of the remake was to improve the original version and have more callbacks (Harris). The film is however too similar to the original version to an extent the viewer's thought they were certain on what was going to happen next. However, this was not the case because the remake was twisted so that the audiences were surprised since some scenes turned out the way they did not expect. The film would have been boring if it was easy for an audience to predict the next scene correctly.
One of the remarkable change in the film was that Jud was changed as he begins to form a relationship with Ellie. Also, in the remake, the audience gets to learn more about Zelda was the older sister of Rachel (Harris). Additionally, in the remake, Victor Pascow is less seen which a significant improvement on the original film was because this character was a distraction. In the remake, he is presented when introducing Louis to the burial grounds.
The changes in the film include the creating of suspense among the viewer's where the original version of the film was predictable on the next move of what was likely to happen in different scenes (Harris). The remake version does not give a chance to viewers to predict the next move on the majority of the scene notable. The new release is more relatable and story compelling. An example of such scenes includes when Louis want to bring back the cat to life but is surprised by the cat becoming demonic. The other notable change in the film include the emotional touch when Ellie is caged, and it's not his fault to understand is growing up. The differences in the two movies make the film more attractive to viewers who had seen the first produce.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are notable changes between the original version of the Pet Sematary and the new release. The changes have brought a twist in the latest release making the film more attractive to the viewers. The new version is like the fixing of the errors that existed on the initial release by the viewers.
